Looking back on my first grade year | June 3, 2011 First grade is like a dream to me because I get to do a lot of fun things like go to recess, go to coach, and I get to see a lot of teachers. The teachers are fun every day. When I see a lot of teachers I get very excited. When I get excited that means I am very, very, very happy. My teacher is very fun. She is beautiful, she has cute clothes and she likes colors just like me. My teacher likes colors like pink and purple. My teacher is beautiful every day. Every day I get to come to school. I love school and I love the whole entire world.

When I grow up I want to b e a teacher because it’s fun to teach and to learn about stuff. Then you can teach students science, math and skills like ABCs and you can teach first grade. You could time them and see how many minutes they can do their work in. If they are good we can play a game like BINGO or we could play “I spy” outside. If they are good and they get a full rewards chart then they can come to lunch bunch. We can also plant seeds and watch them grow. By: Alivia Canty

A year to remember A young lady to never forget | Alivia, I will never forget the day that you walked into my classroom. You had a sense of eagerness and anticipation in your eyes, a loving smile on your face, and a warm embrace in your heart. I knew you would quickly become a beautiful young lady I would never forget. We have spent an entire year together with many days of encouragement; sometimes coming from me to you and sometimes coming from you to me. But each day we have spent together has been wonderful. You came to me with your kindergarten background but you struggled a bit with learning how to read and learning how to use strategies properly in math, so we worked together every

single day. You never gave up and there was never a moment that I doubted your potential. Out of everyone in the entire class... you had the MOST growth in the first quarter. Each and every quarter you were the student who had the B.U.G. award for "bringing up your grades." Each quarter got harder but you continued to work harder than before to keep up with the work load. At the end of the year it is clear, you are ready to move on from here! You're going to second grade and I am so pleased to say, it's because of all the hard work you've put into your education that has gotten you to move on. There is no way I could ever say that you "got through first grade"

because you didn't just "get through," you worked hard, you grew exponentially and you blossomed into a beautiful, wonderful, intelligent second grader. There is no way anyone could ever call that just "getting through." You "went above and beyond!" like I always talked about. Alivia, you remind me so much of myself. Though this year may have proven to be a struggle at first you did not let that affect you. You worked harder, you worked smarter, and you did more than what was expected of you. I am so proud to call you my baby. You are this year and forever will be my baby. I love you Alivia! Love Always, Your first grade teacher Ms. Benedict (440) 258-4562

Do not follow where the path may lead. Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson | Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for a while, leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. ~Flavia Weedn Alivia, you are forever a footprint on my heart | We do not remember days; we remember moments. ~Cesare Pavese | Wherever you go, no matter what the weather, always bring your own sunshine. ~Anthony J. D'Angelo | Do what you can, with what you have, where you are. ~Theodore Roosevelt | May the sun shine, all day long, everything go right, and nothing wrong. May those you love bring love back to you, and may all the wishes you wish come true! ~Irish Blessing

I Love You Alivia | Alivia Alivia, what can I say? You are a star You’ve come so far You come to school Because you’re no fool. You’re sweet as can be It’s easy for anyone to see You are going places You’ll surprise a lot of faces Always know you can And that I’m your biggest fan I will always be cheering for you As you chase your dreams Whatever that may mean You will be successful in school Because you always follow the rules But more importantly you’re sweet as can be Never lose your innocence It’s so precious and sweet You’re the most beautiful person I ever did meet

You may be a first grader But not for long You came through this year And held on strong You’re now moving to second grade But don’t forget the memories we’ve made You’ll forever be in my heart Even if we have to part Know I love you every day Know you’re beautiful no matter what anybody may say Know you’re as smart as can be Know that there is more than the eye can see Know you can chase your dreams no matter how far away they seem Know that the one thing no one can take from you is what you hold in your head and your heart Know you are off to a wonderful start But most of all, know always, each and every day, that I am thinking of you Know that you have impacted me as much as I have you Know that you are my sunshine when I am blue Know you put a smile on my face that will never be erased Know I love you Know you’re beautiful Know it’s true
