10: Behind the art... | One of the hardest things about creating art is not being afraid of making mistakes. That is one lesson I have learned over the semester. Color Harmonies: When creating my color harmony design, I chose to do a mixture of flowers that followed the different harmonies like Cool Colors for example. The most difficult part of this particular project was finding the right colors to use for the many different harmonies. Positive-Negative Balance: This project was one of my favorites to work on. I chose a baroque design and contrasting colors of purple and yellow to show the different balances. The most difficult part of this process was cutting the shape.
11: Consecutive Lines: One of my more "fun" projects was the consecutive line drawing of a skull and spine. Not only was the project challenging in not picking up your pencil, but it also allowed freedom to draw what you saw. Tessellation: By far, my tessaltion project required the most work and thought. Not only did I cut out each individual shape, but I also had to make sure my colors "rotated" with each other. By the end, my Houndstooth design came out just as I had wanted it too. Donut Show: Taking inspiration from the Donut Show, in this project I took different angled pictures of sunglasses. This project was a great way to learn about different angles and how they effect the viewer. Texture: Texture was a lot of fun to make. In this project I took pieces of string and layered paint over the different pieces. To spice it up a bit, I added spots making the string form a snake-like body.
12: Continued... | Still Life: In this project, several components had to be done in order to make my final piece. First I took a actual photograph of the banana, bowl, and cup. Later, I drew the photo and used shading techniques to make the photo essentially come to life and have a 3-D feel. The hardest part of this project was shading accurately and making the picture pop. Photo Editing: The photo editing project was another one of my favorites. I chose a picture of a wild horse at the beach. Wanting to give it the warmth of summer feel, I added the infra-red design. This effect made the horses main glow as if it were on fire from the summer sun.
13: Traditional Mixed Media Collage: One of my more recent projects, the mixed media came out to be one of my favorite collages. Taking my inspiration from a zebra eye, I used several different colors of paper, paint, and tiny pieces of shreded paper to complete my design, The hardest part of this project was getting a theme inspiration and finding mediums to complete the look.
