1: Culture-Guide How we are different How we are the same

2: Greetings | Germans shake hands.

3: Chinese bow.

4: German food | We have breakfast with bread, marmalade, honey, cheese and ham. Mostly cold.

5: We have lunch with meat, vegetables, potatos, noodles or rice. It's a warm meal. Normally it's between 12.00 and 1.00 pm The German people eat one warm meal a day. Usually it's lunch. | We have dinner very often as a cold meal with bread, cheese, ham, sausages, pickle and a lot of things more. Often it's called "Vesper".

6: Chinese food | They have breakfast with plain porridge, salted eggs and preserved raddish, soy bean milk, Chinese pancake with chives/eggs and/or fried noodles.

7: Their dinner is usually rice and vegetables. sometimes they have a noodle variation. They eat every part of the animal, including head, tails, and esp. private parts, even the bones if they can swallow them. | They have lunch with soup, noodles, fried rice, rice with a few dishes and sometimes dim sum.

8: German people eat with knife, fork and spoon. | Chinese people eat with chopsticks.

9: Good manners German people eat silently and don't burp after eating. They show appreciation for the food by cleaning their plates. Chinese people show appreciation for food by making smacking noises and burping after eating. They don't finish all of their food.

10: Germans are punctual and often 5 minutes earlier. Chinese are on time and sometimes up to a quarter of an hour later. | Time

11: Germans sleep with open windows. Chinese sleep with the windows closed. | Bedtime

12: Germans clean their apartments every week and do a big clean once or twice a year. | Housework | Most German men say they help their wives.

13: Chinese people do a big clean before Chinese New Year.

14: Germans shower in the morning. | Personal Hygiene

15: Chinese shower at night.

16: Hygiene | In Germany the people clean their noses with tissues or handkerchiefs. | In China the people sometimes spit on the street.

17: Partnership in the public | Germans man / woman | Chinese man / man woman / woman

18: Definition of Beauty | The darker your skin, the more beautiful you are. Skin products produce a golden tan, and women are more likely to sun bathe at the beach.

19: The whiter your skin, the more beautiful you are. Most beauty products may contain a whitening agent for the skin, and women are more likely to cover up on the beach.

20: Opinions | Germans opinion: one opinion for one thing. Chinese opinion: many different opinions for one thing.

21: Handling Problems | German: Tend to take the most direct approach to problem solving. | Chinese: Problem solving in China is a bit more complex, and it may involve an indirect approach.

22: Sightseeing in Germany | In Germany you must often wait in a queue.
