FC: The Great Depression
1: Many people found themselves with out a home in a matter of days. They had happiness and prosperity one day and before they new it they were out on the streets begging for a living.
8: 1.What caused the Great Depression? Black Thursday was just the beginning f a long downward spiral. Prices dropped still lower the following week, as more investors sold their stocks. As prices fell, brokers contacted customers who owed them money for stocks purchased on margin. They demanded cash to cover their loans. Unable to raise the funds, thousands of people were forced to sell their stocks at huge losses. By mid-November stockholders had lost a average 30 billion.
9: 2.How long did the Great Depression last? The Great Depression lasted from 1929 - 1939. The depression ended because the world was now at war and it was opening new jobs up.
10: 3.What was life like during the Great Depression? Life during the great depression was depressing. It became in many ways a struggle for survival. People were willing to do almost anything for abstinence. They were despite to keep themselves and their families alive.
11: 4.Who was affected by the Great Depression? Every single person was affected by the great depression not one person was left untouched. Even if you where lucky enough to have a job your wages would fall dramatically and you would still be effected by the depression. Even though Woman got more jobs during the 1930s because they got less wages then man, but they still were forced to compete with one another.
12: 5.How did the Great Depression End? World War II is what ended the great depression. The United States enlisted ten million Americans into the Army and because so many were fighting the ones left at home did all the factory work. Millions of people were given jobs withing a short two year range due to the war effort.
