FC: Help | By Kathryn Stockett | Adapted By Thomas Propest

Once upon a time on a faraway planet, there lived three ladies: Skeeter, Aibey, and Minny.

On this planet there were red people and there were blue people.

But things were not very fair on this planet- the red people thought they were better than the blue people, And all the blue people had to work for the red people.

Now Skeeter, a red lady, didn't like this. She didn't think someone should be treated different just because they were a different color.

So one day while playing bazinga with her friends Hilly and Liz- Skeeter asked Aibey, Liz's blue maid, how she felt. Not wanting to get in trouble Aibey said "Things are just fine like they are, thank you."

A few days later Skeeter came back to Liz's to ask if she could talk to Aibey about some cleaning questions, because she had got a job at a newspaper where she had to answer these kind of questions.

Liz said this was okay, but while skeeter was asking about cleaning, she asked Aibey "Are you sure you're okay with things. I was going to write a book about blue maids in town and was wondering if you would help?"

Aibey said no, but later she started thinking about all the mean things the red ladies say about blue ladies and the bad names they call them.

Like The other day when she overheard Hilly say that blue people should have to use different bathrooms than red people because they were nasty and had lots of germs.

Aibey got sadder and sadder the more she thought about all of this, so she called Skeeter and said that she would like to help with her book.

So Skeeter started coming over to Aibey's house to ask her what it was like working for the red ladies. Skeeter got lots of good information but she needed to talk to at least 12 blue ladies if she was going to write a good book.

So Aibey asked her friend Minny, but Minny didn't want to help- she was too afraid of getting in trouble with the red people. | Will you help?

In fact no one wanted to help skeeter with her book because they didn't want to lose their jobs. After a couple months Minny finally agreed to help.

But skeeter still needed 10 more blue ladies. Well one day Hilly had her blue maid arrested for stealing, which she hadn't really done. This made the other blue maids sad and so they agreed to help skeeter.

Now Hilly found out Skeeter was talking to blue people. She didn't know what they were talking about, but she didn't like it. So Hilly, Liz, and all of Skeeter's other friends stopped being friends with her.

Not only this but Skeeter had to lie to her mom about what she was doing so she wouldn't get in trouble. Skeeter felt bad about lying to her mom because she knew lying was wrong- but if her mom found out about the book it would never get finished

THe book was soon finished and all the names in it were changed so no one would find out. But Hilly bought the book and figured out everything.

She figured out who almost everyone in the book was and told the red people of the town to fire their maids. But don't worry- the book ended with a story about a red lady who had been caught chewing old gum from the bottom of chairs and desks...

That lady was hilly, and she didn't want anyone to find out, So she told everyone that she had made a mistake and that the book wasn't about their town or anyone in it.

All the maids got their jobs back and all the red people started treating the blue people a little better.

Skeeter got a job writing books and Aibey got Skeeter's old job at the newspaper writing about cooking and cleaning, and all the other stuff maids did.

And they all lived happily ever after.
