3: August 4, 1938 Dear Mother and Father, It's been a few months now and I am still having a lot of fun as a member of the Hitler Youth. I love serving Hitler and his brilliant ideas. Recently he announced, “You my youth, are destined to become the leaders of a glorious future world under the supremacy of our new Nationalist Socialist order.” I took this quote to heart that Hitler shouted to all of us, and I plan to carry out Hitler's plan. Love, Gottfried | April 27, 1938 Dear Mother and Father, I have been an official member of the Hitler Youth for a week now, and I am thoroughly enjoying it. As soon as I made the oath of eternal loyalty and received my dagger I felt so privileged to be a part of this organization. So far, I have just begun basic training including wielding my new acquired dagger which has been very exciting. I will write again soon to give you an update on my latest Hitler Youth activities. Love, Gottfried | This article is about the Nazis protesting the Catholic Church.

4: 1939 I now had to attend training each day which consisted of precision drills and small-arms handling. This picture shows some of the drills that were done. Members of the Hitler Youth at this time also had to help with the harvesting.

As part of the Flying Hitler Youth I became very familiar with this plane. | Artifact 3

7: February 12, 1941 Dear Mother and Father, I apologize for not writing for so long, but I have become very caught up in the Hitler Youth and Hitler's plans. I have recently been admitted into something called the Flying Hitler Youth which consists of flying planes under Hitler's orders. I still have a lot of flight training to do; however, before I actually get to enter battle in a plane. As soon as I make my first flight I will notify you immediately. Love, Gottfried
