1: This is a map of where the cliff dwellers lived. | The Anasazi (cliff dwellers) were in the Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado area. They lived from 100 AD to 1300 AD.
2: for | Pueblos | Houses | Cliff Dwellers Houses | The cliff dwellers built pueblos on the sides of cliffs and on the overhangs of caves. They used adobe to build the pueblos. The houses had more than 200 rooms each, with up to 700 rooms! Houses had very high ceilings, and were four or five stories tall. Most houses faced south. They built their houses like this so enemies couldn't get to their doors, and they used ladders to get in.
3: pottery | Pottery | The cliff dwellers made beautiful pottery. The pottery was either smooth or textured. The most common pottery was black painted designs with a gray or white background.
4: The cliff dwellers hunted deer, big horned sheep, jackrabbits, mountain lions, and more. They were hunter-gatherers.
