S: My Journey To America

FC: My Journey to America | By: Bahamen Crookle

1: December 21, 1900 Dear Journal, today I am leaving my family and friends and going to Ellis Island so I can be with my father. Ellis Island is nothing like I imagined it to be. When I got into the building I put my baggage in the baggage room. Then I had to do so much test and medical exams to see if am strong enough and healthy enough. I am feeling more and more nervous throughout each test and exams. The officers looked at me like they hated me or something and they treated me like dirt. So far I've met a new friend and his name is Babin Johnson.

2: December 22, 1900 Dear Journal, today I ate American food for the first time. I've never seen scrambled eggs before. Now I'm starting not to feel nervous but I am a little nervous still. Me and my friend Babin Johnson are both passing al of our test and medical exams. All we have is one more test!

4: December 23, 1900 Dear Journal, today me and Babin Johnson both passed our final test. Now we are officially Americans! We just have to exchange our money for American money. Then we aboard the ship to New York. As we wait for the first sight of the green lady (The Statue Of Liberty) in the thick fog. Then finally I saw it and then moments later I was finally on American soil.
