1: Introduction | Maximilian was an European nobleman that was invited by the conservatives to Mexico. Maximilian and his wife Carlota arrived in Mexico in 1864 and many people accepted him as the emperor. His rule did not last very long.
2: Maximilian Life before coming to Mexico | Maximilian was from a royal family, his parents were Francisco Carlos and Sofia and his brother Francisco Jose, emperor of Autria-Hungary. He married Carlota, daughter of the king Leopoldo de Belgica. He was the 3rd in line to be emperor of Austria, so he decided he will accept the agreement.
4: Maximilian entrance to Mexico city as emperor | Maximilian of Hapsburg was barely 32 when he arrived in Mexico, convinced by the | Maximilian arrived to Mexico in Veracruz, may 28 of 1864. In June 12, he started with his empire here in Mexico. His first actions were to reorganize the Academy of San Carlos, founded the Museum of Natural History and Archaeology, and the Imperial Academy of Sciences Literature. Declared the Catholic religion as the official religion. He was emperor of Mexico from May 28, 1864 to May 15, 1867
6: His life at the Castillo de Chapultepec | Maximilian decided to live in the Castillo de Chapultepec with his wife Carlotta in 1864. The emperor hired several European and Mexican arquitecs, including Juluis Hofman, Carl Gangolf and others, for proyects that followed a neoclassical style and convert the palace into a more livable
7: Role of his wife Carlotta | When Napoleon the 3rd took away the French Troops from Maximilian, because of his own problems Maximilian was about to run away, but his wife told him that she was going to go to France and look for troops, Carlotta asked for help to Paris, Vienna, Roma, Trieste, during that time she was there Maximilian was executed.
10: Cerro de las campanas | In this Cerro Maximilian, Miramon and Mejia were executed, in June 19 of 1867, in Queretaro. Benito Juarez gave the order to execute them. Juarez send some generals to execute Maximilian because he went to Queretaro to look for troops, and there was a rule that Juarez declared, that was who ever supported the French were going to be killed and take away there lands.
