Millicent Min | Gifted children are often set apart from the other children. They are far ahead academically of others. Gifted children often are the first to learn or pick up on something in a classroom but are often lacking in common sense more than the average child. Millicent is so intelligent that she skipped five years of school so far and is already taking a college class.

Girl Genius | Millicent is the most highly gifted child in her class. She is taking classic and contemporary poetry at Rogers College. It is a class about some of the major poets and making your own poetry. Millicent is the only one who is taking the class for fun, while the other students are taking it as required course.

Volleyball | Millicent's mom makes her take volleyball to be a normal kid.

Volleyball is a very active sport that many people enjoy to play. There is beach volleyball and indoor/outdoor volleyball played on a court. There are 6 people on a court. One person serves the ball from behind a designated line and keep going until they lose the point. Other team members may pass (bump), set, or hit (spike) the ball to get a point for the team.

Being an | An only child is often lonely. They do get more clothes and attention from parents though. They do not have anyone to play with at home and often use a computer as a friend. Only children are seen as successful, advanced and special. They are sometimes deprived of socialization because of the lack of sibling and playmates at home. Parents often bond with only children and spend less because there is only three in the household and they are very protective of their child.

 Only Child

Skipping Grades | Skipping grades can help children who are ahead academically in the teaching environment, but in almost every case advanced students are deprived of social techniques with children their age and students more mature in their new class. Recent polls show that 43 percent of parents of students who skipped a grade say that it helped their child. 37 percent say that it can help or harm children. 17 percent say that it hurts their children and they should stay in their age grade. 3 percent say that skipping grades should not happen.

 Millicent Min skipped 5 grades. | 5
