Fourteen-year-old Robbie Jones receives which is the main character a 200-year-old lacrosse stick, which has been passed down through several generations, from Hall-of-Famer Jimmy Lewis. | Jimmy told me when ever i am not using th stick that i should place the ball where the pocket is because that is the soul of the stick.
In a dream that I had I got a visit from Red Hawk. Red Hawk is an Indian boy, and through the stick he can come and visit me. | Red Hawk also shared with me information about the past with lacrosse and the way it became such a great and special game. | The next morning when I woke up I could not believe how real and passionate it was.
WALL WORK | Mr. Lewis came to talk to me today about wall work.... | He told me that sick work is very important, and that it is important to hit the wall. The only way to get better is by hitting the wall. | He told me sets of ten, twenties, and hundreds. He said if you want to play at the higher level you got to put in the time.
Respect the game means to play the game as it is meant to be played. | Respect the Game | I think if I respect the game it helps me become a better player and person.
I was shown a plaque that help me learn some of the important history of lacrosse. | DEHONTSHIHGWA'ES (Creator's Game) The game of lacrosse was given by the Creator to the Ho-de-no-saunee(Iroquois) and other nNative American people may ages ago. It is from the Iroquois that the modern game of lacrosse most directly descends. May this sculpture forever honor the Iroquois and the origins of Lacrosse. 6: "Robbie, I'm sorry that I cannot make a trip to see you this month as I had planned. Please forgive me. We just picked up a project thats is going to require me to be in the office almost non-stop for about two weeks. I had been meaning to share this letter that I received from Mr. Turnbull on the occasion of my high school graduation. I found it very useful at the time and I have read it many times since. I'll call you in a few weeks." sincerely, Captain Lewis | E-mail
The stick that has been passed to myself and many lacrosse players was the stick of Red Hawks grandfather.
Fourteen-year-old Robbie Jones receives a 200-year-old lacrosse stick, which has been passed down through several generations, from Hall-of-Famer Jimmy Lewis. He has no idea what he is about to learn from Lewis... or the stick. Lewis wondered how Robbie would do and how long it would take for the stick to reveal its true character. | SUMMARY
