12: VIEW OF CULTURAL/ETHNIC GROUP What did you learn from the novel about this cultural or ethnic group during this time period? I learned that even thought the people of Pakistan live in a war country, they can be very nice people. They also are very greatful for what they have, even though they don't have much. -Nicole I learned that Pakistan is not all poor and that the people of Pakistan have a good amount of money. I used to think that schools are every leader's priority of a country. I learned that Pakistan is so large, the government can't build schools for all the villages, meaning that some of them don't have schools. - Victor I learned that sometime people can be nicer than they look. I also learned that Indian people are ruled by a strong person. - Rayna -Nicole
14: How did your view of this cultural or ethnic group change as a result of reading this novel? I used to think that the people of Pakistan we sad because they had had barely had any money, but after reading this book I noticed that they are grateful for what they have. I also thought they were not educated because they had know schools, but aster reading this book i realized that they are actually really smart. -Nicole I used to think that Indians were mostly mean, now I now that some are very kind like the villagers in Korphe. I also used to think that kindness doesn't pay off, and this book gives great examples of when kindness pays off. For example Greg got famous for building one school. -Rayna
15: I used to think that Pakistan was a scary place and that the people there were bad, but I now know that they are very nice. I also used to think that the kids did not suffer, but when I heard of that one girl who lost her sister to a bomb I felt bad. -Lea -Nicole
