FC: Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago - Amber Hodges
While there are a few entrances to the MCA, here you can see the main entrance, which includes the Visitor Services area, Security, and a few of the exhibits. Towards the back of the photo, there is a table with cocktails and snacks for museum members every Tuesday, which reflects the efforts of the Membership and Special Events departments.
One of the first things visitors see when walking through the museum is text on the wall describing new exhibits, as well as some of the donors who made the exhibits possible. This reflects the efforts of the Development and Exhibition staff. | One of my favorite pieces of artwork was the "Silver Batman," which was in the main gallery. This piece has a placard that identifies the title of the work, the artist, its date, and the materials used. This reflects the Exhibition and Media Specialists staff.
Another fantastic exhibit included a classical pianist student learning and interpreting Chopin's Nocturne in F. Minor "over the course of the exhibition" (left). The pianist could be heard throughout most of the museum. This shows the efforts of the Education, Exhibition, and Facilities staff.
From the third floor of the museum you can see all three levels, as well as part of the main gallery. On the first floor, there is a cafe that serves museum visitors. You can clearly see how thought-out the layout of the museum is.
This picture shows the layout of one of the newer exhibits, "Burn the Picture." This features the work of the Exhibit Designers, who chose which items to use, as well as the Exhibition and Lighting staff, who determined the layout and structure of the exhibit.
A main feature of the Chicago's Museum of Contemporary Art is the store. It was voted best museum store of 2012 and has two floors of exciting and unique products for sale. In this picture you can see the Museum Store employees and their contributions to the museum.
The Museum of Contemporary Art features the work of many of the museum's employees. From the Visitor's Services employees and security guards who are prominent throughout the museum, to the behind-the-scenes efforts of the Exhibition, Education, and Facilities staff, the contributions of the museum staff are evident throughout the entire museum experience.
