BC: The End

FC: My Biggest Injury | By : Katie Wilson

When I was about six years old, I went to my dads house for two days in Appleton, Wisconsin.

He lived on Lake Winnebago, right next door to a big park.

At my dads house, I had a dog named Maggie. She loved to chase rabbits and ducks. But, I never knew that such a loving, gentle, and playful dog would be the one who would put me in the hospital.

When my dad was busy in the basement, I took Maggie outside, put her leash on, and went out on the dock.

When we were on the dock, Maggie saw a family of ducks. Then, Maggie jumped into the lake to chase the ducks. But, she also took me in the lake because the leash was wrapped around my wrist.

My face was very badly damaged. I had large scrapes down each side of my face and my forehead and my lip were cut wide open. | As Maggie dragged me, my face was being scraped by the big, sharp rocks on the shore.

A girl and her father saw what happened from the park nearby. Her father ran inside to get my dad while she helped me.

When we went inside, my dad put me on the couch. After about ten minutes, we went to the hospital.

At the hospital, I got a lot of stitches on my forehead, and as well as my lip. My eye was very puffy and swollen and the rest was all very big scrapes.

After I got my stitches, I went back home in Minnesota. But I wasn't done yet... I went to the hospital there for about a week for more treatment.

At the hospital there, I had to get a lot of shots and about two different kinds of medicines a day.

After about a week, I went home. But I couldn't do things that I could do before the accident. For example, I couldn't swim because I couldn't get my forehead wet.

But, last year we had to put Maggie down at the age of fifteen because of cancer. I have known Maggie ever since I was a baby. But now, I have two scars on my face, and those scars

remind me of my dog, Maggie.
