FC: My Primary School Years | Madeline Hodgkins

All about my primary school life.

Prep | On my first ever day of school I was so nervous but so excited at the same time. The school was humongous and the big kids seemed like giants. My cousin Ashleigh and I walked into Beaumaris North Primary School for the first time, hats on our head, bags on our backs, through the gates we went to the playground to meet some people and have our photos taken. This was all new to me. When we went into the class room we made new friends and meet our teachers, my teacher was Miss Molina. | She was so nice and caring. She was the one who taught me how to read and write. I made lots of friends in prep, girls and boys. Prep was one of the most fun and exciting years of school. I loved it so much I never wanted to ever leave to go into grade one. Prep was the best.

Grade 1 | Grade 1 was fun, I made new friends and I learnt new things. My teacher Miss Hellyer was really nice and she was always there to help. Grade 1 was different from prep because I knew everyone and wasn't nervous, well I was a little bit nervous because of the new things we had to do and how different it was from being the littlest. Sadly this was my last year at Beaumaris North Primary School and I had to say goodbye to all my wonderful friends, I loved this school so much that I wanted to stay. I had made so many friends.

This was my first year at St Josephs Black Rock. I didn't know anyone at this point. This was the first time I had ever seen the school (other than the orientation day). My teachers Mrs Juilff and Mrs Rothberg were so welcoming and friendly they introduced me to so many new people that will be my friends for a long time From then on St Josephs was wonderful, fun and exciting, a school that always had surprises. | Grade 2

At St Josephs there was two teams, Green and Gold. I was placed in Gold. It didn't really matter to me which house I was in because I had friends in both. Grade 2 was ABSOULOUTLY WONDERFUL

In grade 3, my teachers Mrs Cooke and Mrs Gleeson taught us so many things. We learnt lots of things even how to write a persuasive text. In year three we also did our first naplan test. I thought it was pretty easy at first but when we got to the end it started to get a little bit harder. In grade three a new girl came called Monique. After a while when she got to know everyone she started to play with me and became one of my very close friends. Sadly she left at the end of the year.

Grade 3 | Mrs Gleeson also taught us some sign language. We learnt how to sing happy birthday. Grade three was so much fun. | In grade 3 it was the first time we got to have a classroom in the new building because it was brand new and had only just finished being built. The new building was so cool and there was so much space.

Grade 4 | In grade 4, my teachers were Mrs Kelly and Mrs Griffen.

We did a production this year about Captain Incredible. We were robots and sang the robot song. Our costume was a cardboard chest plate with CDs and things on it. We wore silver shiny wigs and we had to wear makeup and lots of it. | Lots of people left in grade 4. It didn't matter that much because new people came as well.

 Grade 5

In Grade 5 unfortunately our class was split and had to go with the grade sixes, so that means that I didn't get to have all my friends in my class. I was in Mrs Kelly and Mrs Martel's class. I was happy that at least some of my good friends were in my class, they were Maddy.B and Adele. We learnt how to do lots of grade 7 maths because maths was our teachers favorite subject. We also did writing and poems. It was interesting being in a class with the grade sixes, but it was good to know what the bigger kids were like.

This was my final year of primary school. Luckily all the grade sixes were in the same class. my teachers were Mrs Cooke and Mrs Griffen. This year was mostly about preparing for high school, we did alot of different thing to get ready for the years ahead. | This was my final year of primary school. Luckily all the grade sixes were in the same class. My teachers were Mrs Cooke and Mrs Griffen. This year was mostly about preparing for high school, we did a lot of different things to get ready for the years ahead. We went on an excursion to the apple store and made a movie trailer. Eva and Abbi were in my group and it was about super heroes. We went into the drama festival and it was all about the environment. I was a student. There were vegetables and things that grew in the garden. In art this year we painted the bollards to go all around the school. I did one about maths with Ruby.

Grade 6 | There were some parishioners that came in to tell us stories and about there life as a child and about how things have changed and are different to when they were young. This was the best final year of primary school I could have ever had.

 Gr 5 CAMP

We went to camp in year five. We were the first ever grade fives to go on camp at St Joseph's. We went to Phillip Island, it was so fun, we had a go on the giant swing and canoed down a lake. I shared a room with Maddy B, Ruby and Charli. Unfortunately we went in winter so it rained most days, but one of the days when we rained we got to go crate climbing, it was so much fun. On the first night at camp we watched movies all night and had cake and hot chocolates. When my group went canoing it was poring with rain and they still made us do it, I didn't mind, I loved getting wet. Camp was AWESOME.

 CAMP | Gr 6

We went to Canberra this year for camp and it was so fun. The bus trip took so long it was at least 8 hours. When we finally got there we got put into our rooms and went to go have dinner. My favorite bit was when we went for a bike ride around Lake Burley Griffin. Some of the other things that we did was go to Parliament House, the war memorial and the Australian Institute of Sport. It was so much fun. The place we stayed at was cool but the room I was in was infested with ants, YUCK!!!!!! The food they had was okay but could have been way better. The camp had all sorts of different things like a pool and a tennis court. it even had a bouncy pillow type thing. Camp was so much fun!!!
