FC: The Nervous System
The nervous system consists of a lot of parts that make it work. In this mixbook I am going to be explaining the functions and parts of the brain, and nervous system. I will be telling you about the medulla oblongatta, cerebellum, neuron, spinal cord, and the cerebrum. Also some of the ways you can injure them.
One part of the Brain is the Medulla Oblongata. Which technically is all a human needs to live, when your body is in a comma or something the Medulla Oblongata is what keeps you alive. It automatically tells your body to breathe, and swallow and stuff like that. It is located at the bottom of your brain and connects to your spinal cord.
The Nervous system has different parts in it like the neuron. Which is what pretty much controls most of it. A neuron consists of a cell body, dendrites, axon, and synapses. Together these thing's work, to transfer information through each other and work the nervous system. They are all over in the body. | Neuron
The Cerebellum | Cerebellum is what controls your motor skills. But it also helps control some other things like emotions, language and attention.
Spinal Cord | The spinal cord is a vital part of the human body. It runs down the center of your back, and connects to your tail bone, pelvic bone, and up at the top it connects to your medulla oblangata. Without your spinal cord you would die. The spinal cord is long, thin and very sensitive. The spinal cord makes up the central nervous system. The main job of the spinal cord is to transfer neural messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
Things that can effect the nervous system. | The nervous System is very delicate. Certain things can harm it, and cause potential serious problems, with your health and wellness. Drugs and alcohol are two very major items that will effect you. Taking drugs like meth will speed up your nervous system and make you sketchy and can cause convulsions. Drinking too much alcohol is another problem because it
Continued | causes your reflexes to slow down. Alcohol and ethanol affect the central nervous system by inhibiting signals between the brain, nerve ending, and spinal cord. Thus the body not being able to react when needed, totally slowing down your reaction time, and equilibrium.
Fatal Injuries | The nervous system is extremely important, there are many ways you could injure yourself that would effect the nervous system or a part of it, like your spinal cord. If you were to fall hardly from something and land wrong, hurting your back or neck you could die, or get paralyzed. Paralyzed is when your body gets injured and you get sensory loss, usually from the injury and below. For example breaking a vertebrae or your spinal cord could and would most likely cause you to be paralyzed from the waist down. Its not something to be taken lightly.
