Sisters Heart to Heart From the time that we were little, I knew you’d always be Not just a loving sister But a caring friend to me. A shoulder I could cry on, A helping hand in times of need, A cheerleader to lift me up, My angel in both word and deed. We told each other secrets; We giggled and we cried. We shared our joys and sorrows-- We were always side by side. We have a very special bond; I knew it from the start. You’ll have my love forever-- We’re sisters, heart to heart. By Joanna Fuchs

Hourglass The ocean is a blue cliché, The pink sunset a rough-edged neon light through the smog. Sand and seaweed scuff my toes in the tender spots, Pillow the tough heels of my wave-buried feet and Slowly cover my ankles. There is sand everywhere, On my face and hands, Carried by the waves onto my clothes, Even in the air as it is flung back, Back into the sea that will toss and churn it And round the sharper grains So that some child's small pink feet Will one day feel them, Soft under the soft-skinned toes Of one not even thought of yet On our sand grain of a world. by Katherine Foreman.

Language Arts The art of Language is oh so great With Social Studies as its mate Grammar, Novels, Poetry I talk about it with family The art of Language is my fate By: Tagel Wilson te

O GSMST O GSMST, the work you give me is unbearing I’m too tired My life is tearing; The work is uncaring I feel like I’m fired However, You are something special It has some addiction It is a worthwhile endeavor I want to make it official Because it is fiction

O GSMST, You give off a light With all the “candy” you give And it takes a lot of might But I think I can live No matter what I say No matter what I do I’m going to try to be keen To be able to stay To be with you too With the fits as a teen

O GSMST, you have great wires You have great minds It’s like preaching to the choir And it’s lucky to find The way you move Has got to make you proud It’s like disco night It has an intense groove With an invigorating crowd Yes, it’s pretty tight

O GSMST, the people you carry Are so smart It’s the difference between a boat and a ferry It might even consist of Mario Cart I hope and pray To God alone With a lot of trust I’ll make it through the day Without a resentful tone And a mind of rust

O GSMST, I hope that I can be seen With glory and respect In the class of 2013 Not trying to be perfect I just want you to know I may have hated it at first And I may have lost a lot of sleep But now, you are far from a foe I now always have a thirst And it’s something I want to keep

Mother to Daughter Poem Well, girl, let me tell you Life hasn’t been a fairytale for me I’ve been sad; I’ve been mad; And I’ve been restless It has been the farthest thing from perfect But when the prince charming rescues you from the tower You know you’ll be alright And live happily ever after But life hasn’t been no fairytale for me

My Mother’s Kitchen My mother’s kitchen is a sight to be seen When you open the cabinet, The different colors of spices become distracting When my mother is cooking Is another story The smell of curries fill the household I try to help; But I help make a mess My mother’s kitchen is one that creates many memories

Where I’m From I’m from my phone, which can become very useful I’m from my queen sized bed, soft and against the wall where I do my homework, and refuse to wake up in the morning I am from family reunions in the Big Apple City To Family Reunions in Gods Own Country I’m from stupid jokes To interesting topics with my friends I’m from dancing in my room with me earphones where no one sees me And from dancing on stage in front of hundreds of people I’m from hot summer days And cold winter nights I am from jumping on the trampoline with my siblings I am from jumping into the pool with my friends I am from ice skating with friends, falling many times, but the friends being there to save me I am from being a bum watching T.V I am from playing football and basketball with the guys I am from trying to be the best I can be I am from motivational parents, who struggled to get here so that I wouldn’t I’m from going out to eat with my family I’m from knowing where and what I want to be in life I’m me
