3: Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Shaun Donovan | Secretary of Housing and Urban Development aims to create a decent, safe, and sanitary home and living environment for every American; is responsible for home ownership programs, helping the homeless, and promoting growth and development in distressed neighborhoods. | Fun Fact: Shaun Donovan has worked as an architect in Italy and New York. | | Recently, Shaun Donovan and the president have announced a new mortgage settlement. This settlement can save people up to 3,000 dollars a year on their mortgage. This settlement is also in progress by helping unemployed homeowners to keep paying their mortgage. This plan involves a new group called Project Rebuild, which is helping to get many more construction workers jobs.

5: Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano | Secretary of Homeland Security works to prevent terrorist attacks within the United States, reduce America's vulnerability to terrorism, and minimize the damage from potential attacks and natural disasters. | Fun Fact: Janet loves music. As a senior, she was named the best musician in her class. | About a year ago, Janet Napolitano claimed she was thinking of running next year for the Senate seat in her home state of Arizona this year. She then later changed her mind because she wanted to keep doing what president Obama hired her for. Instead of presiding in the Senate, she chose to keep serving as the Secretary of Homeland Security by protecting America. |

7: Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood | Secretary of Transportation ensures a fast, safe, efficient, accessible and convenient transportation system. This includes transportation of people and goods by car, plane, train and ship. It's also responsible for maintaining the highway system. | Fun Fact: Before becoming Secretary of Transportation, Ray was a school teacher. | Ray LaHood and the Obama Administration had put out $2 million for a new railway system. in order to "modernize" things a bit. The railway was originally supposed to be set in Florida, but they rejected the system, so they relocated. Their idea to add more railways and additional transportation came from the simple fact that they need more transportation devices to accomodate all the new people coming into the states, and the people who are already residents here.

9: Secretary of Education Arne Duncan | Secretary of Education establishes guidelines and provides leadership to address American education, helps local communities meet the needs of their students, and helps individuals pay for college and prepare for employment. | Fun Fact: Arne is part of Obama's inner circle. | Arne has been described as "most assertive secretary of education" ever. A few years ago, Duncan distributed 3.5 million dollars to failing schools to help them get back on their feet. Let's just say, Arne's a very passionate man when it comes to this stuff, he doesn't like seeing schools fail, and he wants to help out as much as he possibly can. |

11: Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner | Secretary of Treasury formulates and recommends economic, financial, tax, and fiscal policies; serves as financial agent for the US Government; enforces the law; and manufactures coins and currency. | Fun Fact: Timothy has studied both Japanese and Chinese. | A few weeks ago, Geithner grilled China about the value of their currency, the renminbi. He also stated, during a speech, that China needs to loosen control a bit on their financial system. The main idea was that China's currency isn't fair, and they need to raise the value.

13: Attorney General Eric Holder | The Attorney General enforces and defends the federal laws of the US by preventing and controlling crime, seeking just punishment for those guilty of unlawful behavior and enforcing the nation's immigration laws. | Fun Fact: Eric Holder is the first black American to hold the position of Attorney General. | Just today (May 24th), Eric Holder spoke at a drug court graduation. He congratulated the success of the court, and all the people who've successfully passed. None of them were charged, because they became clean. Holder also stated how drug courts decrease the crime rate about 45% by keeping people clean, and in check. |

15: Press Secretary Robert Gibbs | The Press Secretary collects information about happenings inside the administration, within the country, and around the world and disseminates that information to the media in a timely fashion, acts as the voice of the administration by fielding questions from the White House Press Corps. | Fun Fact: Robert Gibbs' mother was active in the League of Women Voters. | President describes Robert Gibbs as one of his inside men. He's great at press conferences and he's always ready to do work. Gibbs describes his relationship as seeming very friendly, he says he can just walk in and ask him a question at any time. |

17: Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack | The Secretary of Agriculture ensures a safe, affordable, nutritious and accessible food supple, cares for agriculture, forest,. and range lands, supports the development of rural communities and provides economic development for farmers and rural residents. | Fun Fact: Tom was born in Pittsburgh, PA! | | Tom Vilsack apparently stated before he was Secretary of Agriculture, if he would be selected to become secretary he would pursue new fuel sources to produce and promote different things. He later changed his plans because he wanted his new fuel sources to benefit more than just one thing. He has also vowed to modernize food safety and promote more nutrition in diets to keep people healthy.

19: Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis | The Secretary of Labor oversees the interests of US workers by protecting workers' wages, health and safety employment and pension rights, promoting equal employment opportunity and administering job training, unemployment insurance, and workers' compensation. | Fun Fact: Hilda was the first in her family to graduate from college. | | A few days ago, Hilda Solis made an appearance in Arizona to discuss her and the Obama Administrations plans to create more jobs and to listen to others' ideas and concerns. Arizona has been suffering from a lot of job losses and they plan on helping that, so more people hold jobs. She also said how she plans on creating a summer job program, providing about 300,000 jobs for younger people over the summer.

21: Secretary of Energy Steven Chu | Secretary of Energy researches and develops reliable energy systems that are friendly to the environment, but are not too expensive, also responsible for the nation's nuclear energy and weapons technologies. | Fun Fact: Steven Chu is the first Asian American to hold the position of Secretary of Energy. | | A few months ago Steven Chu had to defend his department's policies. He was forced to do this because The House of Republicans released two reports saying that their energy loan programs for poor households were full of mistakes and failures.

23: Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius | Protects the health of all Americans and provides essential human services, duties include: conducting medical research, preventing the outbreak of diseases, assuring the safety of food and drugs, administering financial assistance for low income families, protecting against child and domestic abuse, and protecting against drug abuse. | Fun Fact: Kathleen attended all-girl schools throughout her childhood and college. | | A few years ago, Kathleen forged bipartisan consensus. She has realized that she really has an inability to persuade lawmakers to raise tobacco taxes for more heath coverage. A bit ago she was batling with the legislature of it's desire to allow a pair of coal-fired plants in Kansas.

25: Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar | Secretary of the Interior oversees national conservation efforts and is responsible for most of our nationally owned public lands, natural resources and wildlife. | Fun Fact: Ken is one of 8 children. | | Ken has developed a spill-containment system during the peak of the nation's marine oil spill last year. Salazar has said that the oil industry has not persuaded him to restart deep water drilling in Mexico. He has stated that he will not respond to the political pressure pertaining to the issue.

27: Secretary of Commerce John Bryson | Promotes economic business, and job opportunities for all Americans, is responsible for all copyrights, patents, and trademarks. It also plays a major role in federal government matters related to oceans, weather, and technology. | Fun Fact: John graduated from Yale. | | John Bryson is really adept to what to do when the world is in crisis mode. He's had to fight to keep the company afloat during the California electric crisis. Now he has to find a way to bring up the US exports and deal with China's new currency policies.

29: Chief of Staff Jacob Lew | Selects and manages the white house staff, manages the flow of information to the President, advises the president and protects his or her interests. | Fun Fact: Jacob Lew was born in New York City. |

31: Amazing Fun on the Fourth | Secretary of State Hillary Clinton | Handles foreign affairs and relationships with other nations, makes recommendations on foreign policy, negotiates treaties, speaks for the US in the UN and represents the US at international conferences. | Fun Fact: When Hillary was 12, she wrote to NASA asking how she could become an astronaut. She received a reply saying that NASA didn't accept women. Her mother comforted her by saying that her eyesight was much too bad anyway. | | Hillary Clinton has recently been released as a supporter of the Law of the Sea Convention that the senate has been stubborn to ratify. They have created a treaty for the convention in 1994, but the US cannot join. Many other supporters have been named as well.

33: Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta | Provides the military forces needed to deter war and to protect the security of th US. The army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard, national guard, and reserve forces are part of this department. | Fun Fact: Leon used to be Obama's director of the CIA. | | Leon Panetta has recently pushed back demands for US military in Syria to end the dictator's deadly defense on his people. He says, though, that it won't make sense to take one-sided action on it at the moment. McCain has also told Panetta that this wouldn't be good because "in the past America has led, we're not leading."

35: Secretary of Veteran's Affairs Eric Shinseki | Acts as the principal advocate for veterans and their families ensuring that they receive medical care, benefits, social support, and lasting memorials recognizing their service. | Fun Fact: Eric is the highest-ranking Asian American in our country's military history | | In the past, Eric Shinseki made a vow to improve services for veterans of war. He stated that he wanted to aid the men and women who have served, in need, if they need help. After they have took this in effect, Shinseki said he was seen an increase in the number of veterans enrolling with them because of this.
