BC: The country of Seychelles is located on the continent of Africa. Currently, it has the smallest population for an African country. The Seychelles islands are about 1,500 kilometers from the mainland of Africa. Right now, its population is less 87,000. The government of Seychelles is a democracy which means the citizens have the right to vote. 30% of the income comes from tourism because of the beaches and wildlife of Seychelles. 3% comes from agriculture. | A Brief Description of Seychelles

1: Origins | The people of Seychelles are known as the Seychellois. The inhabitants of the island vary from Creole, Indian, Chinese, French, and British.
2: The people of Seychelles are simple people who speak the languages of English, French, and Creole. They land includes more than 150 islands. | Language
3: The Seychellois are usually friendly beings who will invite you in without hesitation. | Customs on Seychelles are to shake hands when meeting a person for the first time. It's also customary to bring a gift with you if you are invited in to a home.
4: Careers of the Seychellois | The people on Seychelles are recognized in the fields of art, business, civil society, and politics.
5: Tom Bowers | Arts | There is a notable citizen of Seychelles called Tom Bowers. He is recognized for his works in bronze.
6: Lindsay Chong Seng is also known for being the executive director of the Seychelles Islands Foundation. She is an expert on the islands flora and fauna. Lindsay is also a naturist and a botanist.

9: Seychelles started campaigning for independence from Britain in 1964. It gained its independence from Britain in 1976.
10: Less than a year after gaining independence, Seychelles witnessed a blood-less coup, which overthrew the current president and installed a new one.
11: After 16 years of one-party rule, Seychelles re-installed the multi-party system. Seychelles is a presidential republic, where the president is the head of state and the head of government. Seychelles has a system where the president serves five year terms and is elected by popular vote. The Executive branch is headed by the president, while the Legislative branch is headed by the National Assembly. The National Assembly has 34 members who are elected in five year terms.

13: Seychelles has a large quantity of wildlife, and it has a fascinating environment. The rocks of Seychelles happen to be the oldest on earth. Before mammals started to develop the islands of Seychelles broke off with no mammals which let other animals change.
14: There are over 2000 species of plants and animals found only on the islands. 40 islands are granite and 115 are based off coral and sand. Seychelles has a healthy marine environment, including more than 1000 species of fish. The environment and economy off Seychelles are closely linked. Now the environment of Seychelles is at risk to serious harm. this is because of invasive species caused by humans bringing alien species to the islands. Hopefully the country will recover and stay beautiful for a very long time.

17: Seychelles economy is based off of many industries such as plantations, tourism, fishing, and might even have large petroleum reserves that are not yet to be discovered. The plantations in the 1960’s made a huge difference in the Seychellois lives. However in modern times the rate of people still farming is less than 3% and 90% of the food Seychellois people eat is being imported.
18: Tourism is a huge factor in Seychelles economy. It is responsible for more than 28% of Seychelles GDP.
19: It is currently the most profitable sector in the economy be side's tourism. | Fishing is responsible for more than 16% of GDP.
20: The other industry is not yet discovered and that is the petroleum resources. There is proof that there is oil because of drilling. Hopefully the diverse economy in Seychelles will hold up for many years to come.
