1: Australia's cricketing legend | Sir Donald Bradman
2: Australia's gratest sporting hero otherwise known as Sir Donald Bradman was born on the 27 of August, 1908 the youngest son of parents George and Emily.
3: Bradman was the youngest of five. He would often play cricket with his brothers and sisters, Victor, Islet, Lillian and Elizabeth May. His idea of fun was throwing a golf ball at a brick wall and hitting it with a cricket stump when it rebounded at different angles. At his family home in Bowral NSW he had no idea that playing like this was practicing his batting skills.
5: Don Bradman's career began when he filled in for the Bowral Cricket team and wowed the crowd. Soon after, his uncle(the coach) wanted him to play. Bradman was known by the name of 'the boy from bowral'.
6: Don, while playing for Australia in 1930 smashed previous world records when scoring 452 not out in 415 minutes. He was knighted at the age of 40 for his services to cricket. The only Australian to be so honoured.
7: Don Bradman was Australia's top sporting hero at the height of the Great Depression.There were lot's of obstacles in his life that he came across. World War 2 was one which he became a soldier in but because of many injuries was sen back. Anxious fans awaited when Don fell ill in London. Rumours were he was dead. He was fine.
8: Sir Donald Bradman died at the age of 92 on the 25 of Febuary 2001. He lived a happy life playing 52 test matches and retiring in 1951 aged 43.
9: People might ask why Don Bradman is so important to Australia. He is important to Australia because he was an excellent role model. He was determined, persistent and a great type of bloke. Setting goals and achieving them ended him with being knighted. He was loyal and a great leader to the Australian team.
