1: Slavery was used in Africa as punishment for crimes also Prisoners of War were captured and used as slaves. The need for slaves increased so traders started kidnapping women and children to sell into slavery.

2: With the adults working in the fields during the day the children had to fend for themselves. Older children were given the task of lookout, if they saw a trader they would let out a loud cry.

3: In Africa Slaves were respected and valued as part of the family, generally treated kindly with fairly simple household things to do.

4: Although Slaves in Africa were respected if they were sold and sent away the boat ride was terrible. They had tubs at the end one of the hold for a toilets but were rarely emptied and often small children would fall in and drown.
