Australian Gold Rush | The Australian Gold Rush took place between 1851 and 1865. People from all over the world came to the Victorian Gold Field's to try their luck at Gold. Wither they were doing alluvial or shaft mining it was warm and dangerous. Food was limited and water carried virus's. Gold fever struck and Australian history was made.

Journey | To get to the Victorian Gold Fields many would of traveled from far far away. The journey would of been tough and waves were either good or bad and played a big part in how many gold fever victims arrived at their dream destination. Diseases and flu's could of been brought on to the ship infecting not only the carrier but loads of other passengers.

Arrival | When people arrived at the Victorian Gold Fields in Ballarat, no matter what time they came from weither it was 1851 any time through to 1865, loads and loads of other people who had hope in their heart would of been their too. People came from all over the world such as countries as Europe, China and North America. Some would of been scared off and gone back on the boat but the brave would stay.

 Equipment

Every body in the gold fields needed equipment wither they were there for Alluvial or Shaft mining. However it was very expensive and some could not afford. Some miners would buy straight away so they could get going to the gold fields and start as soon as possible. Others would continue on their way too, but hope to find a miner on their way back and buy some second-hand equipment for cheaper. For Alluvial mining the equipment needed was a shovel, pick, pan or cradle. For Shaft Mining the equipment needed was a bucket, windlass, cradle and a pick.

 Every miner needs a permit!

What happens if you don't have a permit? If a miner doesn't have a permit then you can not keep the gold and get in loads of trouble. | That is why so many people came to Australia because in other countries you don't get to keep your gold.
