FC: "The Boy Who Couldn't Die" Scrapbook By Moses Lee
Journal Entry #30 Today, I just recently found out my best friend, Roger, was killed in a plane accident. I'm so shocked that Roger, the most important person in my life, just died. I don't know how to feel but I do know this... I don't want to die. Roger died and it could affect everyone like my parents and I don't want to feel this way. I need some way to become invulnerable to pain and death. I just read through newspaper ads and I found this one ad called, "Freedom from Death." and the cost is only 50 dollars? I wonder if this is fake or not, despite that I'm still going to check it out since it's my only choice. Sincerely, Ken
This journal introduces the main character of the story and the plot of the story. Ken is a sixteen year old boy who lives in New York City with his parents and recently he just lost his best friend. He finds someone to make him invulnerable which leads to unforunate outcomes. His goal is find his soul and take it back from Cheri and become human again.
Ken finds a lady named Cheri Buttercups and she makes him invulnerable by making him experience death. Cheri explained that there is no turning back and to reverse this will be hard. At this point, Ken does not really care about that and the conseqeunces only thing on his mind was to see if the thing actually worked. You can return something that you bought something recently if you have the receipt for it.
Ken was allowed to plan the family's vacation spot and traveling there. Ken read an article on a recent shark attack at a small Caribbean island called St. Calao. Since he became invulnerable recently, he chose that place as their family's vacation spot in hopes of encountering a shark.
Dear Mom and Dad, I'm sorry for dragging you guys along for my "experimentation". During the unpleasant plane ride from Miami to St. Calao, the thought of you guys died if the plane crashed and I lived scared me. Especially, you, Mom, I saw that you were really scared on the plane ride and I didn't want that. I was being selfish and only cared about myself and my curiousity of being invulnerable. Please forgive me. Love, Ken
Ken realizes that being invulnerable didn't help instead it only made things worse. At this point, he starts to realized that this thing becomes a problem. This letter is more like an apology letter from Ken because he put his parents in danger for his good. Throughout the book, Ken's situation gets worse, and he tries to hide it from his parents. The selfishness and curosity of one can affect the ones around the person. He is starting to think more about if he made the right decision to become invulnerable.
Dear Diary, At St. Calao, I got a Scuba driving certificate and met a girl named Sabine. Sabine told me about where the shark attack took place.I went down to the coral reefs where I wasn't suppose to. Sabine followed me and I was in contact with a shark. I jammed my foot at the shark and it bit it but there was no harm to my leg, only to the shark. Sabine saw everything and she was surprised. I had dinner with Sabine later that day and she told me about voodoos. With that information, I realized that I was a zombie controlled by Cheri who was a voodoo who uses black magic. I don't know what to do, I have to go back to Cheri and try to reverse it. Yours, Ken
Ken realizes what kind of situation he got himself in and now he has to find his soul which Cheri hid to reverse the invulnerability. Having something great always has its conseqences. He is starting to regret that he made this deal with Cheri.
As Ken returns to New York with the new knowledge of what he is and has become, Cheri, who was his master now, made a move. Ken realizes that Cheri uses Ken for her evil deeds whenever he was asleep. The first thing Cheri used Ken was, murder. A person is being used by another one, the blame is on the person who did the action. Ken really wants to be normal again and lost interest in being immortal.
