FC: The Great Depression By : Regan Wright
Many things caused the Great Depressions but here are some of the main reasons. The stock market crash of 1929 which put everyone into scare and caused everyone to take all their money out of the banks. Another reason were because of the 'bank failures' .People were losing money because of the banks closing. The banks failure, however, was caused by things such as the McFadden act of 1927, limiting the amount of size a bank could grow. People taking out numerous loans and not being able to pay them back and many other things are what caused the Great Depression.
The Great Depression lasted from October 27,1929-1929. A total of ten years.
A lot of people lost their jobs during the Great Depression and couldn't get them back. Farmers crops were dying, parents couldn't feed their kids. Some kids even had to take care of their household while their parents went job hunting. The only jobs someone could get at the time was working in a factory, mimes, canneries and farms. And because of the low paying jobs people lost their homes and had to live in group homes and take food handouts.
Many people were affected by the Great Depression but not in the same way. For example the middle class/poor lost money, the homes they did have and ended up on the street. the higher class also lost money but had money had more money before the crash therefore they still had some of their luxuries during this time.
The Great Depression ended in 1939, but America still wasn't doing well. But, by 1942, WW2 put Americans out of their slump and back on tracK. It enabled men and women to get jobs which means more money for them and their families.
