Once there was a crab named Hermie

Hermi loved to play water ball on the sea grass field, with his friends Tito, the marine worm, and Sheldon, the sea worm.

Hermi and his friends lived in a little coastal community called Shellville.

One day, Hermi and his friends were playing a fun game of water ball, when Hermi noticed a dark cloud washing over them.

 It was an oil slick.

When Hermi got home, he heard his parents talking about the dark cloud.

When He asked them what it was, they told him that it was an oil patch, from an oil explosion the humans caused.

The next day when Hermi got to school, everybody was talking about the dark cloud.

A lot of his Friends even told him that their parents were making them move because they said the cloud would get bigger.

Their teacher Mr. Zooy, the zooplankton told them that the school would be be closed until the dark cloud left.

Hermi was devastated, he did not want school to close, because he loved his teachers and his friends.

While he was walking home from his last day of school, Hermie's friend Detrius swam up to him to say good bye for the last time.

While they were eating the mangrove and sea grass salad that Mrs. Crab made for dinner, Hermi's parents told him that they too, would have to move.

They said that they would have to pack all of their belongings that night, because they would be leaving the next morning.

The next morning while they were loading all their belongings into the wagon, their neighbor Mr. Plankton, the phytoplankton, came out and said his final good byes.

On their drive up to the beach, Hermi saw many crabs eating off the large Mangrove tree, and he also saw Sid, the pelican, picking and eating the crabs as they ate their last meals.

When they finally got to the beach, Hermie saw many humans with big boats, driving into the estuary and using big machines to suck the oil out of the water.

Hermie's parents told him that the humans were trying to fix what they caused, and that maybe one day when the oil was all cleaned up, they could go back to Shellville.

Hermi was happy because he knew that with all the humans working together, he would be able to go back home soon.
