1: PREFACE | The Nicene Creed, is a Christian statement of faith accepted by the Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox and Anglican churches. It was first adopted at an all-church council convened by the Roman Emperor Constantine in 325 AD, in Nicaea. The Nicene Creed was formed as a statement of Christian faith to clarify differing opinions as to whether and in what ways Jesus Christ was God. The source of the dispute was from a man named Arius from Alexandria. Arius had stated that Jesus: “ is not equal to God, nor yet is he of the same substance.” In response, the creed adopted by the Council articulated the belief that Jesus is “of one substance” with God the Father." Since the creed highlights who Jesus is, we we speak the Creed on Communion Sundays when we partake of the true body and blood of Christ. Both in the Supper and in the Nicene Creed we confess that Jesus Christ is “God in flesh.” As the creed it self is a bit tricky to understand especially for younger children this book has been created to allow them to learn what their religion is all about. It is an easy and fun way to teach your children or pupils the Nicene Creed in which they will remember it.

3: The Original Nicene Creed | I believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of God, born of the Father before all ages. God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father; Through him all things were made. For us men and our salvation, he came down from heaven, and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate from the Virgin Mary, and became man. For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate, he suffered death and was buried, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures. He ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead and his kingdom will have no end. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets. I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.
