2: Obituary | Queen Nefertiti 1390BC-1360BC | Nefertiti, Queen of Egypt, Dies Queen Nefertiti, one of the most famous women of Egypt, died in 1360 BC. Her name means, "The Beautiful One is Come." Clearly, her beauty is celebrated and found in many pieces of art that try to portray her elegant appearnce. However, she also was a woman of mystery, as her lineage and disappearance from Egyptian society is persistently contested. She is the mother of six daughters, wife of King Akhenaten, and step motehr to Smenkhare and Tutankhamun. Nerferti exerted much religious influence during her husband's right, specifically the conversion of worshiping a single god, Aten, as oppose to the many traditional gods of Egypt. This change in theology caused much stir in Egyptian society, as its citizens wondered if she has more influence than her husband. | f
