10: cHAPTER 1 SUMMARy Coyotito was laying in his crib. his mother Juana and his father Kino were at home with him also. they all of a sudden heard there little boy crying. Juana ran to help him when she seen a scorpion above his crib. kino ran to see his son but the parents were both too late. there baby had gotten bit by the scorpion.
11: The mother was like any other caring mother and she went up to her baby and sucked the poison out the very best that she could. Although, she couldn't get all of it out. The family was also very poor.
12: Chapter 2 Scince the family was very poor, they had no money to go to the doctor. The doctor only visited the rich people. He felt that the rich peoples problems were the only problems worth his time. Juana and Kino knew that the only people the doctor visited was the rich people, so Juana prayed. when Juana prayed she prayed that they would find a pearl. This brought along the song of the pearl.
13: Chapter 3 In this chapter kino went on a boat to try to find a pearl. He thought he seen his shiny pear the one he had been looking for, but he was to scared to open it for a couple of reasons. He didn't want the others at the boat place to see it and try to steal it and he also didn't want his hopes to be let down if it was just an illusion of the water.
14: Chapter 4 In the last chapter the oyster happened to have a very huge bright shiny pearl in it. it was just what Juana had prayed for. in this chapter the pearl song came along. they were so happy that they had found this bright lustrous pearl and so was all the others in there race. however, now the pearl buyers wanted to buy the pearl from kino.
15: Chapter 5 Kino knew he had to sell the pearl so that he could pay the doctor to make his boy better. so now kinos goal is to get the highest price of money he can get for his pearl. although not much time goes by and people get the idea to steal kinos pearl. kino now has to keep close watch on the pearl, because this is his only way to help his son.
16: Chapter 6 In this chapter kino finds that just because the pearl is beautiful doesn't mean that it is good. The pearl brought along great tragedy for him and his family. His son died and he became further apart from his wife.
17: Theme The theme of this story is that just because something appears to be good doesn't mean that it actually is.
