2: John Steinbeck an American writer was born in February 27, 1902. He wrote many books. In 1962 he received the Noble Prize for Literature.
5: 10,000 years ago the land was inhabited by neolithic hunter gathers. Hernan Cortes claimed the land in 1535. In 1596 sebastian vizcaino named the land La Paz.
6: Father of Coyotito and husband of Juana.
7: Juana: wife of Kino and mother of Coyotito
8: Coyotito: son of Kino and Juana. The baby who dies in the end of the story.
9: Beggars : Poor People who live in front of the church and they know everything in the town
10: Chapter One. Kino wakes up in the morning with The Song of the Family playing in his head. kino and his wife, Juana, are indigent people that rely on what they can get each day. In the morning Coyotito was stung by a scorpion. Juana and Kino go to the doctor to save their son, but the doctor didn't try to help because they had no money to pay him with.
11: Chapter 2 Kino, Juana, and Coyotito went to the in their canoe. Kino Dives into the water to look for oysters that contains pearls. He finds a few small ones, and he sees a huge oyster which he bring back up. He was reluctant to open it, but when Kino open the oyster he found the a large oyster. Juana then looked at Coyotito's wound and found that the swelling has gone down.
12: Chapter 3 Kino comes back and everyone seems to know about the pearl that kino found. Kino plans about what he will do with the money from the pearl. He plans on marrying Juana in the church and send Coyotito to school and to buy a gun for himself.The priest came to Kino and Juana right away to talk about them getting married. The Doctor comes to cure the baby now that Kino has money, but the Doctor was just taking advantage of them. During the night Kino hears a person outside and goes out to investigate. Kino fought off the invader and kept the person from stealing his pearl.
13: Chapter 4 Kino and Juana went to sell the pearl in the city. The pearl buyers tried to deceived Kino by trying to tell him that the pearl is no good but they will buy it for a small price. Kino didn't like that the pearl buyers were trying to do that to him, so he decided to sell the pearl at the capital. They went home, and later that night Kino was attacked again. Juana wants to get ride of the pearl, but Kino does not let her do that.
14: Chapter 5 Juana awoke in the middle of the night and went to where the pearl was buried in dirt and took it out. Kino got up and followed her to the shore, and he beat Juana down and took the pearl back from her. Kino walks back to his house and is attacked again. He kills one of the men, and he loses the pearl in the attack. Juana finds the pearl and returns it back to Kino. Juana goes to get Coyotito, and their house is burned down. They hide in Juan Tomas's house, and he gives them supplies that they will need for the trip to the capital. Juan Tomas sends them to the capital.
15: Chapter 6 Kino and Juana walked during the night covering their tracks. Trackers were right behind them trying to find them and take the pearl from them. Kino and Juana fled to the mountain to evade the trackers but the trackers where right behind them. Kino, Juana, and Coyotito hid in a cave awaiting the trackers to come. The trackers came, and Kino try to sneak up on the them. The trackers heard Coyotito cried; they thought it was a coyote. They shoot at the sound and killed Coyotito. Kino comes out of his hiding place and kills all the trackers. Kino and Juana returned to their village with the gun of the trackers, the pearl, and Coyotito. They walked all the way to the shore. Kino sets down the gun, grabs the pearl out, and throw as hard as he can out towards the ocean. Kino finaly rids himself of the pearl and the evil it brings.
16: M O R A L | Moral of the story: Greed runs through the hearts of every man and greed is his greatest weakness. If he lets it, greed shall consume him and be the end of him.
