FC: Sergio Pizarro's PORTFOLIO | The Reformation
One the main causes of the Reformation was because the church at the time was largely corrupt. Many of the members took to the church for power than to help people. | The pope did little to help the church get back on track but abused his power.
Calvinism was created by a man named Calvin. He was also a member of the church before he left because of all the corruption that was happening at the time. He later created his own church based on his own teachings. | John Calvin was a church follower before he came to the idea that god has a plan and that the people should follow it instead of the church.
Lutheranism was not created by Luther himself when he left the church, he sought to tell and show all or the wrong doings the church had done. The people that listened built the Lutheran church based on Luther's teachings. | Martin Luther used to be part of the church before he left because of the corruption. Even though he did not create the protestant he helped built it.
The Protestantism Reformation began in Germany where the holy church could not could not destroy it. From there it rapidly began to spread to the other nations. It traveled to France then to England where it then remained for the rest of the century. It also spread to Spain but was put down due to the purification in Spain. From here it began to spread to Italy even though the holy church did every thing in its power to stop the Reformation.
When the Reformation came to Switzerland many things happened. First the country was severely split. One wanted to change its faith to the Reformation, While the other wanted to stay catholic. This division led the other sides to have deep suspicion of the other.
There were many different types of the protestant reformation. An example of this is the Anabaptists. In there religion they think that a child should grow up and then decide on which religion that they want to follow. This led to the down fall of church followers. | The anti-Trinitarians also thought that there was no holy trinity that there was just one god. The hunted these people because they saw it as a threat of there power and saw it as leading people down the wrong path.
The catholic Reformation was the church's attempt to bring people back to the church and to stop the Reformation. It was to late though by the time the church reacted the Reformation had its roots to settled too deep in Europe to up root it.
There were many people in the Reformation that helped it greatly. One person was King Henry the 8th in England. He helped the Reformation thrive so that he could have a divorce. In changing the religion he also gained all the church lands that made him rich. The other person that helped in away was Catherine of Aragon. Since she could not give birth to a heir her husband King Henry banned catholicism since it did not allow divorces, And then he gave Protestantism a chance. When he did this it gave the Reformation a fighting chance.
John Wycliffe was another person that helped the Reformation. He was another person that stated that the clergy that were corrupt should be pulled from office. Many people agreed with him. He later became hunted by the church so that they could stop him and his teachings. He later became the closet adviser to the king of France. Here his ideas of getting rid of corrupt clergy was supported by the King.
