2: The First amendment | First amendment is that the government can't tell you what religion you have to believe in. The government can't tell me or anyone that I have to believe in god. In public schools, the staff can't make you pray.
4: Freedom of speech means thats I have the right to say or think my opinions or beliefs. People can't tell lies on people like the president and say that he rapped someone yesterday. | Freedom of speech
6: Freedom of press means that I have the freedom to print my opinions and beliefs in newspapers, books, Internet, clothing and art. The newspaper is always printing things in their opinion as well as just giving information.
8: The Second amendment | The second amendment says that people (not just police or military) can own a gun. Each state makes its own gun laws. Some people like this amendment and some people blame this amendment on the high murder rate in the USA and people using guns for the wrong purpose.
10: The 3rd amendment is that a soldier can not live in your house during peace or in war. The solider cannot live in your home unless they have permission by the owner. This amendment is known as the forgotten amendment because we haven't had a big war in the US in a long time. | 3rd Amendment
12: The police cannot search your home or property unless they have a search warrant. Police need to get a warrant from the judge. They need probable cause to get the warrant. Schools don't need a search warrant but they do need a good reason. The courts have agreed with this because they are trying to protect students and staff. | The 4th amendment
14: Amendment #5 | The 5th amendments gives us the right not to testify against yourself. Also, when you are arrested the police have to you tell you why you are being arrested. You can not be arrested for the same thing twice. This is called Double Jeopardy. If you are charged with a crime you have the right to a fair trial. Because of the 5th amendment, police must say the Miranda rights when arresting someone.
16: My dad can't be fined for the something in the same words so they just say something else. My dad got a speedy ticket and he had to serve jail for two months | Protects the right to a fair and speedy public trial by jury, including the rights to be notified of the accusations, to confront the accuser, to obtain witnesses and to retain counsel. | The 6th amendment
18: The 7th amendment | The seventh amendment says that you can get a jury in a civil case so this means that no crime has been committed by someone is arguing about something. if the amount of money is 10,000. Other states must involve 50,000 or property to get a jury.
20: The eighth amendment | The eighth amendment says that it prohibits excessive fines and excessive bail, as well as cruel and unusual punishment. | We can't not be fined more than what it should be. for example if my dad got stopped by a police officer he could not be fined twice making it like 1,000 dollars just for going over the limit
22: The 9th Amendment | The ninth Amendment gives us the people the rights that are not listed in 1-8. One example is the right to do our private things.
24: The 10th Amendment | The 10th amendment says that the states and cities can have the right to make some of their own laws. If the federal government made all the laws, then they would be to powerful. The gun laws are different in each state.
