FC: Tracking And Targeting Online
1: When you search something on line, people are tracking all of it. These people use the information that you searched to find things you may like to buy or look at. When you get on line you may see ads for things on Facebook or Google, because it may show that you go there alot.
2: When you search for things online, you usually end up getting thousands of results. There are ways to limit those results. 1. Use key words 2. Do not provide your email, for preventing pop-ups. 3. Un-subscribe from websites 4. Avoid "too good to be true" product deals. For ex: "you just won a 1,000 dollar lowes gift card!" 5. Use anti-virus software to protect your computer from virus infested websites. 6. Examine sites’ privacy policies before you reveal any information on the site avoid using sites that will share your data with others.
4: Definitions: Un-Subscribe-To cancel a subscription, especially to an online publication, service, or mailing list. To cancel the subscription of (a subscriber): Please unsubscribe me from your mailing list.
5: Definitions: Anti-Virus Software- Antivirus (or anti-virus) software is used to prevent, detect, and remove malware, including computer viruses, worms, and trojan horses....
6: Definitions: Virus- A computer virus is a computer program that can replicate itself and spread from one computer to another. The term "virus" is also commonly, but erroneously, used to refer to other types of malware, including but not limited to adware and spyware programs that do not have a reproductive ability.
7: Definitions: Sites- A website, or Web site, is not the same thing as a Web page. Though the two terms are often used interchangeably, they should not be. So what's the difference? To put it simply, a Web site is a collection of Web pages. For example, Amazon.com is a Web site, but there are millions of Web pages that make up the site. Knowing the difference between these two terms can save you a lot of embarrassment.
8: Remember, you are being tracked online. Whatever you type or do is being tracked. They do this because they want to know what you like. When they know this, adds pop. These adds make you want to buy things.
