2: Eastern Woodland Indians The Eastern Woodland Indians came about 3,000 years ago. They were excellent farmers but, they still hunted and gathered. They lived in settled villages. They made the bow and arrow and pottery. They also traded. The geography influenced how they lived.
3: Language Groups The three main language groups are Algonquian, Siouan, and the Iroquoian. These languages were not written. Each group spoke a language that were similar to one an other. Archaeologist made-up these names to refer to the similar groups. Many language groups in North America.
4: Radio Broadcast Indians are not just people from the past, they are part of present day life. All tribes helped Virginia’s Shad industry and economy. There are 8 recognized tribes in the state. There are 4,000 VA tribal member. Some children left for better education to Oklahoma. It is a tradition to past thing down to generation to generation. Virginia is also know as Commonwealth
5: There were 14,000-21,000 Native Americans part of the different tribes. Powwows religious ceremonies, that include music,dancing ,and traditional clothing. The Mattaponi reserve is only 150 acres.It used to cover the Coastal Plains. The two reservations in the area are very different, one fishes and the other one farms.
