S: Seasons of Change
FC: William Johnston | Boston Police Office to Civil Rights
2: The Man Himself | William Johnston was a member of the Boston Reserve Police Battalion 101. This position led him into some of the worst situation Boston police had to handle, which gave him a first hand look at the inequalities of our city.
4: Connections Are Key | As a member of the BPD, he was placed in many bad situations. For him, it was a life changing experience in which he decided to learn about the problems and watch them grow, and continue. In an interview, he said he would go to a call and see a baby then 15 years later see that same baby do what his father, mother brother etc had done when he was a kid.
5: Mr.Fix-It | To most, retiring means you go home and play golf, Not to Johnston. After retiring from the BPD, He joined several organizations to help prevent the violence in the city of Boston. He set out with several idea such as having local shopkeepers lend out an ear to help the kids preventing police brutality.
6: The Impact | His impact on the city of Boston was immense. Since his projects, only one minor has been killed with a firearm, which is still one to many, but the crime rate plummeted. He not only stopped violence, but made Boston a nice city to live in, allowing our state to prosper. From all this, He has won several awards and reconnection, and even a high school project on him.
7: My Connection | Although I wasn't one of the kids who would become violent and get shot, I was directly effected by his action. Every time i go o Boston, don't have to worry about gong into the wrong neighborhood and getting shot. I also am connected to him because my family have a history in public safety from Boston so in a way he is family.
