FC: You Wouldn't Want to be a Settler on the Lost Colony!
You are a young man and you want to live in the New World. You are going to sail to the Americas. You have decided that you are going on Sir Walter Raleigh's 2nd expedition. Raleigh isn't going on the expeditions but he organized them.
Why did you go to Roanoke? There are several reasons why you went to Roanoke. Sir W. Raleigh wanted you to colonize Roanoke. You might have needed some more land. You also might have wanted to get away from someone, perhaps your neighbors aren’t nice to you.
How did the Indians treat you? Mostly, they are pretty nice, but sometimes attacks happen. For example, Hostilities with the Indians escalated when the English mistook the friendly Croatoans for an unfriendly tribe and attacked them in retaliation for the murder of George Howe. Maybe the Indians kidnapped them, which leads to our next topic...
Why might everyone have disappeared? Nobody knows why everyone disappeared. Indians might have massacred them. They might have been enslaved and taken into the interior of North America. Did marauding Spaniards kidnap them? Might they have been absorbed into an Indian group? Did they try to escape and drown?
Nobody knows why everyone disappeared. Nobody is investigating. Maybe the readers (and author) of this mixbook should!!!!! I wonder what really happened. It could have been an alien invasion!!! Or it could have been something lamer, like a really high tide. Stuff like that.
