2009 - Page Text Content

FC: 2009 January through June

1: Jess Bigos invited some of us over to enjoy a football game at her house. She had lots of goodies and even made kabobs for us! The shrimp cocktail was excellent, too. I took some cheese dip and Tostitos.

2: Jess and Lizzy Zayas have a running joke about Jess killing her - it is all in good fun.

3: Alan must be loving this food! Robert Kosher is Jess's room-mate. Below: Jeannette, Nicole, Lizzy, Bethany, and me.

4: We like to go down to the ocean and watch the ships leave out of Port Everglades on Saturday and Sunday!

6: More pictures from the beach!!!

8: Love is on the beach...

9: And on a random note.....

10: We were invited to Kristy's brother's house for a Superbowl party. It was the Cardinals vs. the Steelers - Steelers won. | Lizzy Zayas, Kristy Doricent, and me. | We also went to a boat show in Miami. We looked at the sailboats and catamarans. There were some really, really nice boats there!

11: This was a "pirate ship" for tours.. | One day Jeff would like to have a sailboat, but we decided we would want to try it out first. | This is a HUGE catamaran! I think we could get used to it though.....ha ha ha | Just to give you an idea....

12: Moon rise over the ocean!

13: Jeff found out the moon was going to rise over the ocean on March 10, 2009. It was a warm, clear night. We took a bottle of wine and went down to the beach to watch.....it was gorgeous! The only strange thing was a 30-something female jogger that had never seen the moon before.......

14: Matthew came to visit in early April and stayed for a week. We had a nice visit. | We went to dinner and a show at the Improv at Hard Rock.

15: We had not spent more than a couple of days at a time with him in a couple of years, so we really enjoyed the time together. | We went on an airboat ride through the Everglades, too!

16: Some pictures from the ride through the Everglades. Check out the alligator!

21: They also have an alligator show after the airboat ride.

22: We tried to watch the moon rise but it was a bit cloudy that night.

23: We went to watch the cruise ships leave Port Everglades.

24: Last but not least, we took Matthew to Fajita-rita night at Tijuana Taxi. Jeannette, Alan, and David came as usual. Matthew only drank about half of his margarita, but it is a tad large.

25: We took rooms 10, 11, and 12 to a Marlins' game for the end of the year field trip.

26: Graduation May 21, 2009 It was my first year with Kentwood and this was the first year with 8 senior graduates. The 8th grade also graduated and I worked with them as well.

27: Philip came to visit on May 31 and stayed for a week. For some reason we did not take many pictures. The only pictures we have are of the Marlin's baseball game. While he was here, we also saw Night at the Museum 2, went to Hard Rock, went to Fajita-rita night, watched the whole season of Big Bang Theory, and went out to eat a few times.

28: A stormy beginning for our June 2009 cruise, but it was gorgeous within an hour of sail-away!

29: We were on the ship by 11:45 and the weather was wicked for a bit. These are all real pictures, though they look a bit surreal.

30: We did not let that stop us from having fun though. We went to lunch and met Chef Matthew. He really loves his job - and is a great chef - and I bet he tastes a bit as he cooks! Then we met the bartender for the Sky Bar, Hugh, and had our first drink of the cruise.

31: We went and took some pictures around the ship, then went back to the room and changed for some tanning time when the sun came out.

32: The weather started to clear....... | soon we were working on our tans.....

33: Come sail away with me!!!

35: Hanging around the room is good, too! Especially with the nice robes we get for being Platinum members. We like to have a cocktail on the balcony.y too!

36: The ship was gorgeous at night - and the food was delicious! There were lots of shows and parades on the Promenade deck that were fun to watch.

38: Pirates on parade!!

40: First formal night! | Jovenito was a great assistant waiter!

41: Towel Pets begin the second night on board. I actually had to put the sunglasses on it a couple of times. Our cabin Steward, "Wa-Jou" was not the best towel pet maker we ever had.......ha ha

44: We like to have a drink in the Viking Lounge in the late afternoon or evening.

45: Long, long hall....and it is equally long in the other direction.

47: We got to St. Maarten and the school kids were on a field trip to see the ships in port. It was very interesting to see.

48: Excursion - Captain Morgan Sail and Snorkel Adventure. | The captain 's name was Serge.. He was a nice guy. Ivan, the shipmate told Jeff and I that he came to St. Barts for a 15 day vacation in 1983 and never left. They also called Ivan Rambo.

49: This was a fun excursion, but we drank a bit much. The snorkeling was not too great.

50: Some pictures from our sail around to the French side of the island. where we snorkeled and had some lunch. Serge made some excellent ribs, and we also had Augratin potatoes and salad. We threw the bones to the fish. | The planes flew into the airport right over the beach very, very low. The ship mate said it was pretty impressive if you were laying out on the beach.

52: Back on board ship | Jeff admires his sunburn..

53: San Juan, Puerto Rico We were only here until 2:00 PM.

54: Senor Frogs We had never been to one, and decided it was time to go. We got balloon hats and diet coke in yard glasses. Jeff got a quesadilla and I got buffalo wings. It was really pretty good food, the atmosphere was wild. They had us get up on chairs and do the chicken dance, and they were pouring shots in people's mouths - not ours, it was only 11:45. So many people were roaring drunk and totally wild. One girl was very sick in the ladies room.

55: Sail away was early but pretty! | Jeff was even able to check his email on his iPhone and I updated Facebook.

56: Some more pictures from sail-away. This is the fort we toured last time we were in Old San Juan.

58: Labadee, Haiti It was overcast and drizzling or lightly raining all day. | We didn't realize they had changed the way they tendered people to the island so we got our "tickets" late and were on Tender 15, but got a great spot on the beach anyway!

59: We were still able to relax and enjoy some time together. They do a BBQ on the island - good food! | We made the mistake and went to Johnny Rockets when we got back on board at about 3 - UGH, we were so full! (and dinner 3 hours later)

60: Desserts! Sometimes we ordered more than one, but didn't eat all of it.

61: Jeff's favorite is the Key Lime pie - he ate all of his and some of mine. My favorite is the Cherries Jubilee! We also had a good one called "Crunchy Walnut Custard" They have really stepped up the desserts - they actually taste good now! | Why am I in all the dessert pictures? Why am I in every dessert picture?

62: Last formal night!

63: More random photos!
