13: Peru 'in bloom'
14: Day two - 27km ascent, 1300 metres to the top of a mountain then a 40km descent at speed down the mountain on a grave trail. The gradient on the ascent was quite simply the toughest physical thing I have ever done. During the descent I tried some single tracking down the side of a mountain with Andy and Richard. Amazing experience and one that I plan to repeat. Ended the day near Paucartambo, camping. | Day three - 33km ascent to the top of Manu national park. The level of difficulty was on a par to day two because much of the road was muddy and it was windy and raining. Add all of that to a steep continuous climb and you have one hell of a cycle! The top was so high we cycled through the clouds to our campsite. It was so cold we found an old abandoned house where we made a fire, some food and got warm for the night.
