FC: Cinderella Man Hero's Journey Project Brady Lewis and Drake Gambill 2nd Period

1: Ordinary World James J. Braddock loses everything in the Great Depression in 1929 and does whatever he can to support his family, hes fighting in low rent fights and constantly fighting hurt. He has a broken right hand but he must keep fighting to support his family so he breaks it again in three places, which results in the loss of his boxing license and little income.

2: Call to adventure After James has been on public assistence, his former trainer and manager Joe Gould tells James that he has a fight for him against the number two heavy weight contender Corn Griffin for 250 dollars. This was meant to only be a stepping stone in Griffins career, nobody else would take the fight on short notice without training.

3: Refusal to Call James talks about the upcoming fight against Griffin and his wife tries to make him feel like he shouldn't take the fight in case he permanatly hurts himself. The thought stays in the back of James mind.

4: Meeting With the Mentor After his miraculous and unexpected win against Corn Griffen, Joe Gould comes to James apartment and says hes almost positive he can get his boxing license renewed. Joe gives him 175$ to start training.

5: Crossing the first threshhold James gets his license back and has and upcoming fight against John Henry Lewis and starts training with the money Joe gave him. He has and already lost to John once before which further raises the intimidation factor.

6: Tests, Allies and Enemies James ends up beating John Henry Lewis, he gets another fights and beats Art Laskey making him a number one heavy weight contender for the title.

7: Approach to inmost cave James learns that he will most likely end up having to fight Max Baer the heavy weight champion of the world. Baers manager tells him he is going to be fighting Braddock and Baer thinking it will be no competition and says he wont do it at first unless they can find someone who will put up a fight.

8: Death Experience or Ordeal After James hears of his fight with Max he meets with Jimmy who shows him footage of Baer killing a man in the ring, trying to get him to not take the fight. James decides to take the fight anyways.

9: Reward In the fight with Baer he lasts past the first round, which nobody thought he was capable of. He is actually getting the upper hand in some parts of the fight.

10: The Road Back After the 11th round Joe tells him in the corner that win or lose everyone is proud of him and to try and hang in their in the last four rounds.

11: Resurrection/Rebirth In the 15th and final round Baer is desperatly looking for the knock out and everyone is telling James to stay away from Baer but he keeps pushing forward. Baer lands a devastating punch that puts James on the ropes and everyone thinks hes finished but he comes back and takes control of the final seconds of the round.

12: Return with the Elixir James is a hero to everyone in Burgeon, New Jersey defying all of the odds against him, which truly made him the Cinderella Man. He doesn't have to worry about supporting his family anymore with the money he made. After the fight with Baer they bought a house and raised their children in it and lived there for the rest of their lives.
