2: GEOGRAPHY | England is a large piece of land that is surrounded by the English channel to the south , the North sea to the east, and the Irish sea to the west . England also contains the Pennines mountain range in the North and in the south England was made up of rolling hills and plains.

4: The two main religions that existed during the Elizabethan period were protestant and catholic. Although protestant and catholic were the two main religions some people were also superstitious and believed in witches. | This is a picture of a christian church that was built during the Elizabethan period.

5: During the reign of Queen Elizabeth she passed two major acts about the religeon of England. The first act was named the Act of Uniformity and this law required that citizens attend church every sunday. She also passed a law called the 1559 Act of Supremacy and this law gave the English church power over the pope. | This is a picture of Pope Sixtus the fifth, who was the pope during the time that England split apart from the Church.

6: SOCIETY | The society of England was like any other renaissance area. There were many fairs, public preformances, music, dancing, and other forms of entertainment. There was also a class system. At the bottom you have the Yeamen and the laborers and at the top is the Monarch and his nobles. In the Elizabethan society educated was highly valued and a man who was educated was considered a gentleman. Also the people of England valued the family and the family served as the basics of a society in England.

8: POLITICS | The main leader during the Elizabethan period was Queen Elizabeth. She was a very strict and religious queen. The government of England was a monarchy during this time. Some of the laws were so strict in England that Shakespeare was not allowed to curse or represent events that occured in England into his plays.

10: Economy | The economy of England highly relied on trade. Some of the things that were brought to England were chicken from the crusades and some spices from Italy. In southern England the economy relied on agriculture and many new vegetables and crops were produced. Many refugees came to England do to the European wars that were going on and these people brought with them their culture, art , and goods.

12: ACHIEVEMENTS | During the Elizabethan period there were many theaters built and many medicines were developed such as tobacco, arsenic, lily root, and dried toad. Many festivals and fairs took place during the Elizabethan period. Some of the jobs that the common folk had were bottler, apothecary, card wainer, and a spinster. There were also many weddings that took place during this time.

14: Shakespeare was born April 22,1564 in Stratford-upon-avon. | Shakespeare's fathers name was john and he was a glover and his mother's name was Anne. | Shakespeare was the third born child out of eight and was the first to survive childbirth.


16: Shakespeare wrote famous plays such as Hamlet, Macbeth, Romeo and Juliet, and Maesure for Measure at a young age.

17: SHAKESPEARE"S CAREER | Shakespeare set off for London and joined a group called the King's men. This was a group of people that toured England and preformed plays. This was the start of Shakespeare's writing career. | Shakespeare co-owns the globe theater which was a very famous theater that can sit up to 3,000 people per play. This theater opened up in 1599 and was destroyed by a fire years after.

18: Shakespeare married a woman named Anne Hathaway and had 3 kids with her. The names of the kids were Susanna, Hamnet, and Judeth but Hamnet died at age 11. Anne died in 1623 and Shakespeare died in 1616.

19: LIFE | Shakespeare attended school for seven years and took courses such as Latin, theory, arithmetic, astronomy, and music. When Shakespeare was older he ended up leaving his family and joining the King's men and was suspected of having an affair with another woman.
