1: Dear Expectant Parent, Thank you for viewing our profile. We have been praying for you and for your journey. Although we don’t know the details of your story, we look forward to the opportunity to talk and hear more about you. We are Erik and Nikki and we would like to share with you a bit about who we are and why we desire to adopt. Our relationship grew out of friendship. We were friends for 3 years before pursuing a romantic relationship with each other. We love this because we knew we enjoyed each other and meshed well together before we pursued anything romantically. Fifteen years later, we still know how to have a good time and enjoy each other’s company. We can hardly wait to share this love and fun with a child. God has been gracious to us in every aspect of our marriage. Although our journey to start a family has not been easy, we are so thankful for the time we have had together. We’ve tried for several years to have children but our attempts have resulted in five miscarriages. We have experienced God’s comfort through it all and are thankful for the peace He has given us. Growing our family through adoption is something we feel that God has laid on our hearts. It is with excitement and anticipation that we write this letter, knowing that God has orchestrated each step. Along our journey we have learned more about His heart and love for people than we could have ever imagined. Even though we have walked through some difficult times in our lives, we know that God has a perfect plan for our lives and we believe the same for you.
2: What I love most about Erik (by Nikki) Is his selflessness and his loyalty. Erik gives from his heart without thinking twice about it. I don't know of anyone who gives more of themselves than he does. I know he will be an amazing Father willing to give of his time and energy. Those who know Erik take him at his word. He is tried and true and unwavering in his commitments. He has been known to change plans at the drop of a hat in order to help someone in need. His role as Helps Director for our church has given him the opportunity to share his gift with others. Although selflessness and loyalty are his greatest strengths his fun side is always present. His sense of humor keeps people laughing and he can carry a great rhythm. I’m envious as I have a hard time even clapping on beat unless I watch him. He has a musical talent that allows him to play several different instruments but my favorite is when he plays djembe. | What I love most about Nikki (by Erik) Is her passion for life. Whatever Nikki does, she gives it 100%. Whether it is spending time with friends, her work with the church, or following her dreams at the flower shop she is all in and I know that she will do the same as a mother. In her Executive Assistant role with the church, it is amazing to watch her in action. She is a master at seeing the “big picture” of whatever is going on and helping everyone on the team get across the finish line at the same time, which coincidentally comes in very handy in our marriage as well. Nikki is very creative and she is in her element when she is working with flowers, but she can also sew, design, and do lots of other crafty things that blow my mind. We use humor a lot in our relationships, with each other and with our friends, so to say we have a lot of fun together would be an understatement. Nikki is genuine and so much fun to be around. She brings out the best in me and I couldn't imagine my life without her.
3: We believe that life is about those around you and living life to its fullest. God has called us to raise up leaders. Our desire is to establish a solid foundation in Christ for our Children that will allow them to be strong leaders and influencers with others. We believe that God has placed a calling on everyones life and we are committed to working with our children and within their individual personalities and giftings to find their passions and help them establish their place of influence. Our children will be a part of a big, beautiful, loving family. The vibrant church community we belong to here in Virginia encourages strong relationships with others who help us through the toughest times and encourage us in our everyday. We would love to welcome you into our family at whatever level you are comfortable with. Although our immediate families live in Florida, they are a big part of our lives and we visit as often as possible. Erik’s family has made it a tradition to come up the week between Christmas and New Years. We love hosting Christmas every year and we pray for snow every time! We ask that God be with you to guide you and give you comfort throughout this process. Thank you for looking at our profile and we look forward to the opportunity to meet you. Sincerely, Erik & Nikki

23: If we were to sit down and have coffee together, this is what we would say: | We have been married for 10 years. In that time we have had many opportunities to sharpen and hone our communication skills with each other. We are not pursuing adoption simply because we feel like we are missing something. We love what we have built together and we would love the opportunity to share our love with a child. We know that raising a child takes sacrifice and commitment. We have prepared our hearts, our lives and our home to welcome a child into an environment where they can thrive and grow. We want our children to be free to be who God made them to be and feel that it's our job to encourage, guide and protect. We promise they will always know your love for them.
