FC: This is Kevin and I at Fort William Henry. | Fort William Henry was constructed by Major General William Johnson and a group of Colonial volunteers and British regulars. This was built to launch military operations against the French and their Native allies. | The French and Indian War was part of a large conflict between England and France. It was fought in Lake George for political and economic control over North America

1: British Infantry Sword | This weapon is an original basket hilt board sword. This weapon, a traditional sidearm was carried by the British Infantry Soldiers during the time of Fort William Henry. | It severely damaged men becuase of exposure to extreme heat. | This sword was discovered beneath layers of rubble during the stages of archaeologcal work on the fort. | The blade is straight, double edged, grips were wooden, and was cover with leather and wrapped with wire.

2: Captain Robert Rogers | Rogers was born in Mass. in 1731. He became a Indian fighter in his early teens. | In 1775 Roger and his New Hampshire group served under Sir William Johnson at Fort Edward

3: Muskets | Types of Muskets French Style Trade Gun Dutch Musket 1756 .80cal French Charleville 1766 Model Braw Bess Late 18 Century Dutch Hangoverian Musket 1760 .80cal

4: Ammunition 1765-1757 | This ammunition was used for cannons and muskets from 1765 to the end of the war in 1757.

5: Medical Care | Medical Care at Fort William Henry was poor. Their was lack of knowledge of how to treat diseases. Illnesses and infections spread rapidly. People would depend on a persons inner ability to heal the treatment. | Surgeons back then were also know as Doctors

6: Bayonets | Bayonets- A short hollow dagger made with a hollow handle and a shoulder to fix on a fire lock or musket so that neither charging or firing is prevented by it being fixed on the piece. | Soldiers used bayonet charges when they were low on supplies.

7: Wooden Shackles | Wooden Shackles were used to keep prisoners in place. It was also used to torture them.

8: The Land Tortoise | The Land Tortoise or Radeau was 54 feet long and propelled using sails and oars. | These ships were floating batteries and were used to dislodge the French from Lake George and Champlain
