BC: Life is Good

FC: The Fourth of July at My Lake House

My mom shares the lake house with her brothers and sisters, and it was our turn to go. My lake house is on the lake front of Lake Michigan in the countryside, in a little town called Belgium, Wisconsin.

My lake house is made of old, antique stone. Green grass surrounds the house, and the smell of freshly cut grass fills the air.

This lake is a magnificent shade of blue. Its color changes with the tide. And it seems that it never ending.

From this experience, I have learned that friends are all you need to be happy.

First we went to the back yard to play a game of backyard baseball.

When we were exhausted from playing baseball, Sami, Tori, Alex, and I went down to the waterfront of Lake Michigan. We had a sand castle competition.

We wanted to see who could build the biggest sand castle. The competition didn't last very long. It turned into a disaster with sand, water, and plastic shovels flying left and right.

After the sand castle incident, Sami, Tori, Alex, and I came back up to the back porch covered in sand, to grab a bite to eat. Our bite turned into a feast of grilled brats, hot dogs, fresh fruit salad, and more.

After dinner, all the parents sat down next to the fire pit, and the children followed. Soon, it got dark and an orchestra of crickets, bees buzzing back to their hives, and frogs calling for the partners to come home for a good nights rest, fills the air.

As we shared stories, we all roasted marshmallows. Mine were perfect, just touched with goldenness. When we were all done with our roasting, it was time to go home.

We cleaned up everything, put things back in their places, and headed for home. This was one of the most wonderful days I have experienced. I realized that with friendship, a happy attitude is just around the corner.

Last Fourth of July, I invited my neighbors, the Puhls: Tori, Sami, and Alex to my lake house.

We have to stay strong. | I now see that without family and friendship the world would be very sad and would feel like the happiness was sucked right out of the world.
