FC: In the recent years it would appear that youths were getting into more trouble and committing more crimes.

1: Even with more broken homes and with more gangs on the rise juvenile crimes have actually been on the decline throughout the years.

2: Assaults cases (aggravated and simple) have declined upon juvenile males but increased among the females.

3: Boys are more likely to be detained for more traditional criminal offenses such as theft or assaults on strangers.

4: According to The Boston Globe 250,000 youths under age 18 are sent into adult criminal system each year, more than half for nonviolent charges.

5: Statistics show that many as 65 to 75% of juvenile offenders have one or more psychiatric disorders.
