S: 2010 - A Family of Three

FC: a family of three | 2010

"Only love can be divided endlessly, and still not diminish." - Anne Morrow Lindbergh | So happy to be expecting Baby Boy Ashmore! Only Mommy and Daddy know your name, Little One, and we are excited to meet you in May.

February ~ Took a trip to MI to visit the Csapos family and celebrate Logan's first birthday and baptism. We love seeing Dan and Vickie and Derek, Erin, Cora and Logan Csapos. Also in February, Sarah flew to Omaha for the first of five (yes, five!) baby showers. | Mary Pat and Amanda Krahling, Sarah Donnelly | Tara Bridges and Melissa and Deborah Vanderhart

Dan had flowers delivered for Valentine's Day, and they came during the shower! | Mary Pat Krahling, Nicole Woodhouse, and Wanda Rockhold shared some motherly wisdom (below). | Candace and Krista Krahling | Sunitha Kallepalli, Lynn Scott, Susan Leight, Andrea Cooney and Joyce James

April: Down to Columbus for another baby shower and to celebrate Easter. He is risen! | James and Annah | James, Adrian, Violet, Lily, Lauren, and Abby | Becky

April/May: Final preparations for baby: two more baby showers (one from Leroy Community Chapel and one not pictured at Tami D'Amico's) and a visit from Susan and Michael Patterson. | As a joke, Dan wrote "My baby's name is Sammy" on the wall of Dave's Cosmic Subs (it was a secret - we weren't telling!) and mentioned in passing to Michael that he did so. When they visited, Michael played detective, found the sub shop and found the writing! He and Susan kept it a secret until after baby was born, which Sarah was thankful for. It was funny after the fact!

The many faces of a sleeping baby...

Around the house - first month | First nap in crib - what a big boy! | Memorial Day: Sammy and Dan take a nap. | Ready to go! | Onesie from Karen Davis - lookin' good!

June: Happy first Father's Day to Dan! We all enjoyed a visit from Greg and Sherrie and Matt, Amanda, Lily, Abby and Lauren.

June/July: Visit from NE family and trip to PA to visit Gram and Pap Reitz. | Sarah's cousin Kate loved Sammy. | Sammy meets Aunt Melissa for the first time. | Silly Mike! | Sammy with Great-Gram Reitz.

Sammy enjoyed hanging out on the porch since it was cooler than the house (no AC). Pap Reitz even sang us some "old time" songs. | It was HOT! We knocked off some tasks on Grammy's "to do" list and enjoyed ice cream at The Cow - a family favorite since Susan was a little girl.

4th of July weekend we spent some time at the cottage at Camp Sunshine before we went (cue Willie Nelson)... | ... on the road again!

Dan had to head back to Painesville (somebody's got to earn the paycheck) but Jeff, Susan, Joel, Melissa, Michael, Sarah and Sammy went on from PA to Washington, D.C., with stops at a few Civil War battlefields along the way, of course. (The Civil War is one of Jeff's interests.)

Susan contacted the office of Lee Terry, the Nebraska Congressman, to get us tickets for a tour of the Capitol building. Most of us also went up the Washington Monument, although Susan and Sammy stayed below and found a comfortable spot in the AC (did I mention the HEAT!) of a ranger station. | Joel, Michael and Jeff by the elevator shaft of the Washington Monument.

Final stop in D.C. was Arlington National Cemetery and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier before going back to PA for a few more days with Gram and Pap. | We spent the last day of the Patterson family visit at Chad and Lisa Vavpetic's house - or, more specifically, on their boat. The trip back to Nebraska began at midnight that night. What a fun visit!

July: Trip to Columbus and photo shoot by Becky.

Sammy and Aunt Becky | Violet, the birthday girl | Happy 1st birthday, Violet! | James, Lily, Amanda and Abby

August: Fun with family and friends | Whatchu lookin' at? | Sammy and his buddy Elijah Baker | Smiles and kisses for Sammy!

Finally, we visited with Dave and Kelli Schoney (in Omaha) just after Kelli had completed radiation to send her breast cancer in remission. We're so thankful! | Sammy has developed a new talent: shrieking. It is LOUD! (See top face of bottom two pictures.) He thinks it is so funny. | Joel and his new wheels.

October: Back to Michigan! Sammy met the Csapos family and we all enjoyed a "fun day" at the local fire department. | Logan Csapos | Sammy got his face painted! The Spartan 'S' of course.

After visiting the Csapos family (and picking up boatloads of hand-me-down boy clothes!) we stopped to see Pat, Aleisha, Olivia and Natalie Leavitt. The girls (including Cora) all LOVED Sammy. He's a lovable little guy! | Sammy, Cora and Logan Logan and Erin Sammy and Vickie ('Ma') | Sammy and Cora Sammy, Olivia and Natalie

October: First solid foods for Sammy! He loved the rice cereal and ate the whole dish. We love our healthy little man.

And now... it's Christmastime! First we have to pick the tree, then decorate it, and finally exchange presents. Oh, and drink egg nog. Don't forget the egg nog! | Like father, like son. | Joel and Genai | Dan, Sammy, Sarah, Joel, Michael, Jeff and Susan
