34: Shilo's 1st Visit to the ER & 1st Broken Bone
35: Well, after years and years of soccer, lots of various other sports and activities, most recently mountain biking and downhilling while racing, I never thought my first visit to the ER would be from a road bike crash. It was the Saturday morning road ride and the "faster" group was all riding together in a paceline, because that's how you can go faster, and hey, thats what it's all about. We were all tucked in behind each other at about 25 mph and a rider caught the wheel of another rider and down we went. I was 3rd back and ended up hitting another rider and flipping over him landing on my helmet and shoulder. I cracked my very expensive S-Works Prevail helmet which was a Christmas gift from Bobby just last year. It did it's job tho, and I didn't even suffer a concussion. Bobby was right behind me and had time to avoid the accident. My mom came and picked us up and drove us to the ER. After cutting off my favorite pink sports bra, I had a CT scan and some very painful xrays and learned I had broken my clavicle and also had some shoulder separation. Boo! Out for 4-6 weeks! Needless to say, Bobby has become very good at putting my hair in a ponytail, getting me dressed and getting my bra on! The lovely duties of a husband! He has been wonderful and very caring.

During the whole climb I was thinking it was downhill the whole way back. Wrong! We ended up having a headwind to fight the way home! 104.6 Miles Time: 7:28 Hours 7,500 Feet of Climbing Average Heart Rate: 152
