FC: A YEAR IN REVIEW
"Families are like fudge ... mostly sweet with a few nuts."
 MAKING MEMORIES
 Ashlyn's 6th Birthday!
Ashlyn's birthday began with a giant cupcake in bed. Emily had helped make Ashlyn a Fancy Nancy look-a-like shirt for Ashlyn to wear on her birthday. | "The friends we meet on the path of life make the trip worth while."
so many | Each memory we keep with care means future happiness to share.
LIVE WELL LAUGH OFTEN LOVE MUCH | Mom had each of the kids take a week and plan our meals and shop for the groceries they would need. They were each given $100 dollars to spend. Emily went for the coupons and catalina's and was able to purchase all the food to the left for .23 cents. A savings of 102% ! Matthew went for the WOW factor in his meals with a 3lb family size hamburger. He made the bun from scratch and had to cut the hamburger like a pizza. Jaydin went for the gourmet factor and tried difficult recipes that were delicious!
Emily's 11th Birthday. Just before Emily's birthday ATK tested a space shuttle rocket. We went out to Promontory, UT and meet up with Grandpa and Grandma Olds and the Davis. On the way back home we saw this helicopter that looked like it was stuck up on some power lines. We were so worried we stopped and told the Sheriffs office. We learned that he was stringing the new power lines and was completely safe. On March 1st Lauren Davis and Mom surprised Emily by taking her out of school for a day at Beadles to make watches.

Spring Time | Matthew at soccer practice | Kindergarten field trip to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden UT.
 Maui, Hawaii
 I'oa Needle Volcano
One of our favorite days in Maui was Sunday. We went to church and then drove down to the lava rock coast. We hiked around the coastline for hours picking up coral and looking in tide pools.
We loved the beaches in Hawaii! One day Dad and Mom went on a timeshare tour so we could get discount tickets to ride out in the ocean on a large boat. It was suppose to be an all day snorkeling adventure out on a different island. The wind was too strong so we ended up with a short snorkeling trip and then whale watching. We saw a few whales and their babies, a dolphin and a sea turtle.
Before we left for our trip to Hawaii, Matthew was very obsessed with the food that we would find in Hawaii. He wanted to try "Hawaiian" hot dogs and pizza. He found both in Costco! We went to Costco right after we got into Hawaii. We bought food for the week and cooked all but two of our meals in our condo. The two meals we ate out cost us about $100 for each meal. One meal was hamburgers, the other fish and chips from a road side stand. Food is very expensive in Hawaii! We did splurge for Hawaiian ice a few times, yummy!!!
Hawaiian Hot Dogs They were bright red! | We found a heart shaped frosted flake cereal piece. We were sure its a good luck piece! | Living in Utah their whole lives the kids had never seen alcohol sold in a grocery store. | The largest SHRIMP we had ever seen!
 Summer Time!
Briska | Jaydin finally got a puppy! For her 14th birthday she found an Icelandic Sheep dog/mix for sale on KSL.com. The nice family that owned Briska drove all the way from Idaho near West Yellowstone.
It's The Little Things In Life That Matter
Matthew had a great time playing soccer this year. His coach was Steve Blanchard. It was the first year Matthew really started to understand the game and was a very good player!
Ashlyn hates these pictures! She had an allergic reaction to a mosquito bite and her eye swelled shut. When she was younger, anytime something not fun would happen she would start crying, "blankie, blankie" then she would hide under a blanket so no one could see her. We called it her invisibility cloak. We can tell Ashlyn is growing up, she let Mom comfort her.
Matthew went to Camp Kiesel for Cub Scout Camp | Love having our new puppy Briska! | Emily was in several Parades with her clogging studio
Summer Time! | Mantua, Utah poppy fields bloom at the end of June each year, they are amazing!
Yellowstone Trip | For fall break we drove to Yellowstone with our truck and trailer. We love Yellowstone this time of year. It is cool during the day, and very cold at night. It makes for lots of wildlife and fantastic steam from the geysers. We stopped and visited the family that we got our new puppy Briska from. It was fun to see her mom and brother "Dude".
Matthew's class field trip to Hardware Ranch. They learned about watersheds and how to determine how clean water is by what lives in our streams.
 Elyssa Rylee Clark "Lisi " | November 24, 2010 - 7:59am 5 lbs 9 ounces November 29, 2010 - 3:55pm
When Uncle Steven and Aunt Shiree were first married they agreed to have just one child. Enyssa was born in January of 2005. As Enyssa started getting older she started asking her daddy for her baby sister Lisi. On Valentines 2010 her dad surprised Enyssa and her Mom with an announcement that he thought their family should have a baby sister. This announcement was met with cheers and tears! Aunt Shiree had really struggled to get pregnant with Enyssa, and had many miscarriages. This time she got pregnant right away and the family was certain it would be a little girl. The Monday before Thanksgiving Shiree went in for a routine checkup. The doctors sent her to The University of Utah hospital right away. She had no amniotic fluid and the babies kidneys were not working. Little baby "Lisi" was born the next morning with great fear that she may not even take a breath. Lisi started crying and Aunt Shiree hoped this meant things would be alright. Things were not alright. Elyssa Rylee Clark lived on life support for 5 days. Her kidneys never started working. She was born with a genetic kidney disorder. She looked perfect, beautiful and healthy on the outside. We all learned a lot about "Eternal Families" this week.
Meet Joshua Christensen | Our wonderful friends the Christensen's were able to adopt a 2 year old boy named Josh in May. They had to go to India for about two weeks to get him from an orphanage in that country. We had their older son Jordan stay with us a few days while they were gone. It was so much fun to finally meet Josh, we all adore him. It is amazing how much living in a family unit can change the life of a child! When the Christensen's were looking into adopting Josh they were told he had several special needs. He had a stroke before he was born and the left side of his body didn't work. He couldn't open his left hand and they thought he would never walk. They also said Josh had hearing loss and would have to were hearing aids. He wore glasses and didn't see well. Since he has been with his new family he has learned to walk/run everywhere. He has perfect hearing (once they got ear infections cleared up!) And he no longer wears glasses.
Josh was sealed to his family on December 18th in the Logan temple. Josh and Jordan looked beautiful with their dark skin dressed in all white in the sealing room with their parents!
