FC: A Cancer kid | Max Nunn
Max’s father took Max to the ER at MCMC on March 16, 10 after he was complaining of a headache throughout the weekend. Later that week Max Nunn was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma (also known as Medulla) a malignant brain tumor which was putting his brain under attack and also has metastasized into his spinal column. Max was diagnosed with cancer. | Max began to lose his ability to speak. Then he began going under chemotherapy witch works by killing fast growing cancer cells and healthy cells in Max’s body which lowers his Immune system. A couple of weeks after Max started Chemotherapy he had overcome some horrible side effects.
He vomited a lot, he couldn’t hold much down. He was really tired and ill his parents Jodie Nunn and Tom Nunn were really concerned. But there was nothing they could do but hope the cancer goes away or find the cure for cancer. But Max didn’t let cancer stop him he had all the fun he could, he graduated kindergarten hunting, fishing and camping.
So Jodie decided to put together a group on face book, Twitter, MySpace ext. Called TEAM MAX , | friends and family around the world, including us began joining the group. And we all began trying to raise 100, 0000 dollars towards St.Baldricks where Max was getting help from.
Then Max began to get better in the fall, he was even good enough to go back to school. Max was happy that the medicine started to work. Max had a pretty good couple of months. Then he began to get worse once again. | So he went in for more test and spinal tabs, and they found that the cancer had spread and the tumor began to increase in size. So he kept on doing chemotherapy.
While Max would have his good days and bad days. My mom, Jodie and her friends began spreading awareness about childhood cancer and began raising money. They sold t-shirts and sweat shirts and pants that all went towards St.Baldricks. | Some days they would receive over 1,000 dollars!
While Team Max was going Max began to get worse again in August 2010 the chemo wasn’t doing anything but making him ill. There was one last answer, and that was Genentech’s we were asking over and over again. We were sending letters. This little girl from Max’s school even wrote a letter saying, Can you imagine needing a medicine for your child, but there is this one drug that could offer some hope but that didn’t seem to encourage.
So people everywhere were sending them letters and videos to convince them to. The letter that was sad and there wasn’t much she could do she is just a kid. She said how would you feel if you died or someone you knew because no one cared till it happened to them.
While Max was trying to have fun going hunting for deer one of his favorite things to do. He liked going on car rides and Bowen arrow shooting too. While he was in the Hospital Kiki and her family got some tattoos that Max put all over him and called them cancer warrior.
Then eventually Jodie and Tom got the call that Genentech’s would give him the medicine but it was too late Max got so ill that Thanksgiving weekend they decided to take him off the medicine and he died Thanksgiving day. Though he died we are all still raising money and he will always be remembered for his wonderful spirit. ANSWER to cANCER!! Stop Childhood Cancer! :D
Later on Tom, Jodie, and Lily all shaved their heads and continued raising money for cancer .
