BC: "I love you not only for what you are, but for what I am when I am with you."

1: When a Rooster met a Turtle | I think it would be fair to say that it was fate for the two of us to eventually meet. With so many circles of life overlapping, it was just a matter of time before glances turned into conversation and that is just what happened. In the heart of Newport’s summer (June 2009) we both attended a wine and cheese party with friends. As I entered the backyard, my eyes instantly connected with Amy’s. She was stunning...We smiled, introduced ourselves and unfortunately were quickly interrupted by friends wanting to chat. I thought to myself, “Man, I want to talk to HER again”. The night went on and having failed to swap numbers, the days went by. About a week later, a girl arrived at our doorstep for a BBQ with my roommates. As usual, I was buried in work at my computer. During her tour of our place, she poked her head in my room. Not knowing it was Amy, I quickly stood up and introduced myself. She said, “Yeah, I know you... we met earlier”, teased me about eating cereal out of a wine glass and continued on her tour. It didn’t look so good for me and my memory. I’ve never eaten cereal out of a wine glass... why today?! As things became less cloudy, I recalled the chain of events. I had to go chat. I couldn’t now decide to hang out at the BBQ. It would be obvious that my interest changed upon the arrival of our guest. I walked out into the kitchen and attempted some chit-chat. We started realizing all of our similarities... Everything from close friends to church, vacation interests, where we buy groceries, drop mail and hangout were identical. To top it off, I lived 3 houses down on the same street. She was beautiful. I was so pumped up, I went for a run. The next day she came over to use the internet... yeah, I knew she liked me. She was cancelling a plane ticket to Hawaii and was saying she wanted to travel somewhere else. I related to her and said I would be down to vacation. She invited me to Africa and I said maybe somewhere in the US first. I wrote her on Facebook that night and left for a 4th of July camping trip with some friends. We texted and talked most of the drive home. Upon returning she invited me to hang with her at the park. Apparently I was shirtless... Later that night, we made breakfast. Her dad called to chat with her and said we should come to Redding. Because we just met, it wasn’t a “meet the family” trip. There was no pressure. The next morning, her dad had sent a list of fun things to do. After reading it, I got out of bed and booked us plane tickets. Upon check-in at the airport, Amy couldn’t answer the names of the parties traveling. It all happened so fast. Redding was heaven. We had so much fun. I fell in love with Amy, her family, her upbringing, etc. I was head over heels. It took her a bit longer to realize what she caught, but once she did, we were engaged and married within a year. Meeting Amy brought excitement and an overwhelming calm. No wonders, no worries, no searching... just victory and thankfulness to God for fulfilling my wildest dreams and then some.
