S: 2010 - A YEAR IN REVIEW

FC: A YEAR IN REVIEW

1: January 12,2010 Haiti was rocked with a 7.3 earthquake. The epicenter was just 10 miles from Port-au-Prince. 240,000 dead and millions homeless. | Micheline, her daughters Rachel & Osperlineda, son - Wyclef, and niece Veneda (During August Visit). Her nephew, Fritznel, was able to translate for us. | This group from Foothills went to Haiti in March to help Heartline Ministries rebuild their orphanage and women's clinic. We nicknamed them the Haiti 8 - John, Joel, Ken, Bill, Jason, Jeremy, Brian and Jared | "Youn, de, twa" Sharing smiles and lollipops. Micheline and her family lived next door to where the team was working. Their home had collapsed. Now their home was two tarps (one for sleeping and one for cooking) | My Thoughts from Trip - In spite of tragedy, there is joy in God's People. | These are the "compartments" that they removed Rachel and Osperlineda from after the earthquake.

2: John sent us two short emails. The first said "It is different but good" the second one said "the people are amazing and can truly persevere. It is dificult but good. | Rosmonde

3: John came home with a thousand stories and a heart for Haiti. In 13 months, he made three trips to Port-au-Prince. | Kids in City Soleil | The team got to see a few births. | The ladies sewing purses outside. Because of the quake, they were reluctant to be inside. The team fixed the walls in the sewing center / women's clinic.

4: One more game of Monopoly before school starts. Lazy Days - Playing Nintendo in our P.J.s | Rafting the Arkansas River near the Royal Gorge. Below - Enjoying the Light at the Civic Center

5: MAKING MEMORIES | A highlight of 2010 was Omah and Brad's visit. We went to Rocky Mountain N.P., a Rockies Game and to Georgetown.

17: "Mi corazon esta en Mexico" | Taking the Quads out. | Couldn't get enough of the IPOD. Listened to "Soul Sister" and Black Eyed Peas' "I got a Feeling" over and over and over ....... | Playing Bocce while the tide was out. . | May 20-25

18: Summer Time is Grill Time! Hanging with Our MC Group - The Halls, the Balls, the Lockridges and the Esterlys | Laura E., Deb, Laura P. & Glenda | Marian, Amanda & Hudson | Jennifer, Colin and Conner

19: John, Greg, Drew, Bob,Chris & Sassy | At Robbie Ferrufino Park

20: Mother's Day | Marian made me a tree & a flower box. The rose was from Jay. He had a baseball tournament in Golden. | A special treat for our family is getting the Rockies Deal at Taco Bell. If they score 7 runs, the next night you can get 4 tacos for $1. So for Mother's Day we got some tacos.

23: The kids created their own Amazing Race for Dad. | The kids created an Amazing Race for Dad

24: Seventh Annual Waller 4th of July Bash and Mike's 40th Birthday! | Jeremy and Shawna | The More the Merrier!!! | Another Difference between Boys & Girls - Girls like having their photos taken and boys really don't.

25: The Sveums | Joel & Zach | Julie T. with Claire Leyba | Devin | A rainy night

27: SUMMER CAMPS | The following Camps kept us busy: Band, Basketball, Theater & Peace VBS | Summer Camps | Jay lugging his baritone | Marian had so much fun doing the CYT's Camp Disney.It was August 9-13 from 9-3. They performed Under the Sea, Colors of the Wind and Supercalifragilisticexpialidousous | Basketball Camp at the APEX | Ms. Keri & Ms. Danielle

28: BEAR LAKE | Several times during the summer we would meet up at "the Beach" The Seidlers would come down from Bailey. On this day everyone made it - The Smithlings, Randalls, Wallers and Davis'

29: GO Rockies! | GO ROCKIES! | Enjoying the Day at Coors Field | It's even more fun when you can get your tickets for $1.

30: The Pomona Predators before the May Day Tournament | Marian got plenty of reading in during the season.

31: Jay usually played first base but occasionally he pitched. | Coach Pete handing out trophies

32: Clear Creek Canyon | Right before we put in. Chris, Laura E., Amanda, Greg, John and Laura P. | 10 minutes into our rafting trip, in the first rapid we ended up in the water. | Going, Going, Gone

33: Since Amanda doesn't do "High Fives" we ended up tapping her on the head with our paddles.. | Still smiling at the end of the trip.

34: Camping Outside the Indian Peaks Wilderness | Our only camping trip this year.

36: With 10 days notice, John was heading back to Haiti with Joel, Chris & Josh. Highlights of this trip were moving Marjorie into her new home and seeing Micheline & family again | Marian sent some stuffed animals and Silly Bands for the Kids. This girl named her lion "Be Nice". | John McHoul showing Chris around | Building with Rosmonde | Marjorie in her new home from Heartline.

37: 3 Guys 2 Mountains 1 Hike | Grays Peak is the highest peak on the Continental Divide (in the U.S.) | Torreys Peak 14,267 ft. | Renamed in 1872 in honor of two of America's most famous botanists - Asa Gray and John Torrey. | John showing off his new bracelet that Micheline made for him. | What a great day with Art and Doug!

38: Jay & Mrs. Elwell 6th Grade | Marian & Ms. Mattox 3rd Grade | Marian loved the bag that Daddy brought her from Haiti | Movie Night at the Smithlings' before School starts.

39: Mr. Goodwine last day of 5th grade | Mrs. Tuck last day of 2nd grade | So proud of our Artists. Jay at the Jeffco Art Show and Marian at the Arvada Library. | Jay was elected Mayor of Young Ameritowne. | The pig Marian and Mom made.

40: so many | Hey Everybody get off your seat. The "uggie" woogie rhythm starts in your feet. Once you get the rhythm your hips start to pop. Chillin with the bulldogs you'll never want to stop

41: Marching in the Harvest Festival Parade with Arvada High Poms | 9-11-10

42: HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY | Two Cakes - One for Party and the other, Angel food

43: Celebrating Jay's 11th Birthday with Tyler, Alec, Loren & Ian at Jumpstreet. | As a family we went to Elitches. Jay showing off the prizes he won. | Jay got a new football and they had a chance to play before heading to Jumpstreet. | Jay loves Cargo

44: Trick or Treat | All ready to go trick-or-treating. Got our pillowcase and wearing fake blood.

45: Yucky!

46: Trunk or Treat | Jordan Tillapaugh & Friend as Mario & Luigi | It was great seeing them work together.

47: Trunk-or-Treat was a huge success this year. The weather was fabulous and they had an Orange Scavenger Hunt. We ran all over Foothills with several trips to Warehouse 180. | Colin & Conner | Chris protects Alli for Pirate Marian | The Smithling's Trunk

48: Our Papa Murphy's Pizza

50: Halloween Party at School | Mrs. Phipps covered during Mrs. Elwell's Maternity Leave. She brought Chase to the Party | Ginger -The dog Marian gave Ms. Mattox

51: FALL BALL | The team after a tough Loss. Dan Hansford helped coach this season. | Jay & Jakob

52: Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. ~Cathy Allen | Launching Our Rockets at Robbie Ferrufino Park | The Davis' got a lot of enjoyment out of these rockets and thought we would too. Little did they know how much. | Launching the Sky Writer, a rocket shaped like a pencil.

53: For Christmas - Rockets and Legos topped the wish list. Jay and Marian gave each other Rockets. Above Photo with gifts from Shirley. | First Rocket Jay made was the Swift. Because it was green and so tiny and went up to 750 feet into the air, we almost lost it both times we launched.

54: Enjoying some football.

55: This year as we gather for Thanksgiving and remember our blessings, we are so thankful for Mom's continued healing. From her first doctor visit 8/19, two trips to the ER, learning about her Pheochromocytoma, surgery on 9/3, rehab at Evergreen Life Care Center, and going home 10/20, it has been a memorable 3 months. | "Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts, and your minds in Christ Jesus" Philippians 4:6 | When I drove to & from St. Anthonys, I would pass this sign. | We made sure Mom had plenty of Puzzle Therapy | Mom's Birthday Puzzle

56: Spelling Bee 2010 | Marian's words were primal, message, and relevant. Jay's were unity and futon. Futon? What is that? | Marian thought getting her favorite number(16) was a good sign.

57: Showdown at the Lawrence Elementary Gym. Marian and Jay finally got to compete in the same Spelling Bee. Marian did a lot of studying in preparation for it and it paid off. She won top 3rd grade speller. Jay didn't quite have the day he had hoped for. Dan Hansford would win it all & we would celebrate with ice cream. | 3rd Grade Spellers - Sierra, Anikin and Aryn
