FC: Mark and Becky

A family is pieced together with hope and faith. A family is quilted and bound with love and grace.

Dear Expectant Parent(s), We thank you so much for taking the time to read our letter. We cannot begin to imagine what a difficult decision this must be for you. We are in awe of the courage that you are demonstrating by considering adoption. This unconditional love and courage is a rare act of selflessness. If we are chosen, we want you to know that we will honor and respect your decision by providing your child with immense love, honesty, laughter, and affection. Our home will be a safe place for your child to grow and thrive. We have been together for eleven years, married for eight years, and best friends the entire time. Our marriage in 2004 was symbolic of the steps we are taking to build our family. Our relationship is built on our faith, mutual trust and respect and we hope to instill those values in our children. Becky is a stay at home mom, raising our six year old son, Tyler. She is an amazing mother, who gives everything she has every day to taking care of our family and making sure that Tyler is growing up in a safe, fun-loving, and happy home. She is the planner in the family, never content unless she's organizing SOMETHING - whether it be Tyler's annual birthday bash, or simply an impromptu family weekend excursion to explore New England. Mark works in operations management for a publicly traded company in Massachusetts, He has always worked in this field, but took the job here in New England so he could spend more time with our family, as his previous job required him to travel. Mark is now home every night for dinner with our family, and is able to attend Tyler's baseball games, school concerts, etc... We are very lucky to have an amazing extended family that is very excited for us to add to the rapidly growing clan of grandkids and cousins. Mark is from a family of 5 children, with three sisters and a brother - all of whom are married and have provided

Tyler and our future children with ten little cousin buddies to run and play with, and still growing... Becky's brother and wife live in Chicago, IL and we see them every time we are in town. Both of our parents have been married over 40 years, and are tremendous role models for strong marriages through thick and thin, and living selfless, God-loving lives. Although they aren't in the same state, they are very involved in our family's life, visiting almost every other month, and on Skype almost every day. Any child will be welcomed into a loving family of 5 uncles, 5 aunts, 4 grandparents, and 10 cousins (so far), and one very loving golden retriever. We cannot wait to introduce a baby to our family traditions, as you'll see in the pages that follow, we really love to spend time outdoors together as a family. To name a few, in the summer we camp, play at the beaches, and go on hikes, we go apple and pumpkin picking every fall, we cut down our Christmas tree in December, and we decorate our own Easter eggs every Spring. But our favorite tradition is just exploring new areas together as a family - which has been amazing since moving to beautiful New England. We chose our neighborhood based on the number of playgrounds in backyards. We then spent a great deal of time researching the school district, community activities, so that our child and future children could have all the benefits of growing up with a lot of friends, playing sports, and getting an excellent education. Our neighbors are amazing. We can sit on our front porch and watch Tyler play in the daily pickup game of baseball or snowball fight in the cul-de-sac in front of our yard. It is important for us to raise a child in a honest, fun loving home. We plan to raise him or her with the understanding of how they came into our lives. Any child that we adopt will know the special role their birth parent(s) played in their life. Our journey together has been full of valuable lessons about building a family, most importantly: love comes from the heart, laughs should come from the belly, smile everyday, and challenges bring us together. No matter what choice you make, we hope only the best for you. All our blessings, Mark & Becky

Mark | Mark (by Becky) Mark is my best friend! We have been best friends since the day we met, over 11 years ago. I love that when I am having a bad day, he can always make me feel better. His hugs just melt my heart. One of my favorite things about Mark is his laugh. He can make me belly laugh by telling me a random joke or making one of his silly faces. I love the way Mark brings out my goofy side in me, and makes me laugh until my sides hurt. And if you told someone else what we were laughing about they just wouldn't get it. Mark is an amazing dad! You can tell by the way Tyler sprints to the door to give Mark a hug after he returns from work how much he loves his daddy. They love to wrestle, play baseball, go for hikes in the woods, fix things, go fishing, and do "boy stuff". Tyler loves to show Mark what he can do and Mark is always there to praise his achievements! I love the fact that Mark realizes the importance of family time. He is home every night for dinner and he looks forward to weekend time together. Even if he is exhausted, he spends time playing games or reading books to Tyler right before bed. Mark is absolutely amazing when it comes to working on projects around the house. He has the confidence and ability to fix anything I break. I never have to worry if something breaks because I know he will be able to take it a part and fix it! Most of all, I love the patience he demonstrates while he spends time teaching Tyler how to fix things. Mark is an amazing dad and I can't wait to share his love with our next child!

Becky (by Mark) Becky is a beautiful woman, both inside and out. She is a tremendous mother to our son and wife to me. It never ceases to amaze me with how people are drawn to her - she instantly makes people feel comfortable when they meet her, and within half an hour they're chatting like lifelong friends. My favorite times being together is when we are goofing around, she is one of the few people who really gets my off the wall sense of humor, and I love making her laugh. Although we are similar in our sense of humor, we are definitely opposites in some other aspects of our personality. I am a dreamer, and live on the spur of the moment - whereas Becky is a planner, and a realist. Together we bring out the best in each other - she keeps me grounded when I start to get too dreamy, and I make sure she relishes her dreams a little more about things that maybe aren't realistic at the moment. When I think about her as a mother, it's as if this is what she's been preparing for her whole life. When we decided to start a family, I thought I'd be the expert - since I'm the second oldest of five - I had it all figured out. She's been schooling me ever since Tyler has been born. She most definitely epitomizes the "mama bear" - making sure that Tyler is always safe and taken care of, and I can't wait for her to share this gift with our next child. Her strong will, quick mind, and willingness to make sacrifices for Tyler and I are just some of the qualities that I see in her which make Becky an amazing mom. | Becky

 our family traditions

Our parents provided us with amazing memories of family traditions which formed much of who we are as adults. Since we have been together, we believe having annual traditions is important. 22: PARENTS Molly & Joe | THE WHOLE FAMILY | Robyn | MARK'S FAMILY | My family is one of the most cherished things I have in my life. We all grew up together in a remote part of northern Canada, without any other extended family - and I believe this is why we are so tight knit. My mother stayed home with us while my father worked on the iron ore mine, and I have wonderful memories of a traditional...

As with all families, we have our share of drama - but we are all fiercely loyal to each other and will drop everything as soon as one of us is in need. 24: Our Extended Family | Jami | You know those people in your life that you can truly relax in their company and just be yourself, because they truly love you for who you are, and not who you can pretend to be? That's how we feel around our siblings and their families. Just belly laughs, inside jokes, and being yourself.

We have always been a very tight knit family, and as cliche as it may sound - we can sleep tight every night knowing we've got a BIG support group that will be there for us whenever we need them, at a moment's notice. | Laugh
